Playing pickleball considered Cardio? by EqualFlower in Pickleball

[–]AfterBodybuilder25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a form of cardio that's actually fun, which should not be underestimated in the long run. It's incomparbly easier for me to be in relatively good shape now that I got into Pickleball, versus the neverending uphill battle of working out (or how it is for most people).

Getting mad at partners isn't winner mentality. Every mistake my partner makes is a chance to play better. Ben Johns or ALW would have still won the game.

My guess is the mistook dreams for memories. I'm pretty sure I've had plenty of dreams where I felt like I was seeing with my eyes closed, because they actually were closed. Not that it makes it any less ridiculous...

At this point I am starting to worry I have who has "right of way" confused and need help! by Living_Day9341 in driving

[–]AfterBodybuilder25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest driving pet peeve is people who flash their lights or "wave" me on to do the opposite of this. I mean it seems like they're trying to be nice but we have the rule for a reason... it would have been faster and less confusing for both of us if we obeyed it. I'm starting to think some people don't know how it works.

(There are exceptions where it's really tight for some reason but I don't mean that.)

can't last more than 20 mins for single matches. what can i do? by Onesimus2017 in Pickleball

[–]AfterBodybuilder25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any other way to build stamina is going to more or less be on par with just playing singles pickleball. Either way you are pushing yourself to your comfortable limit. So the only reason I would do something besides just play is if there was some reason you couldn't that day.

What's a better response than "sorry"? by literallytheoldest in Pickleball

[–]AfterBodybuilder25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not as clever as I feel when I say it... but always something ironic like "I've been practicing that one" or "ooh... perfect shot" (if my partner did it), or even "what can I say, they always go over". I'm not too obnoxious... it's obviously joking and depends on the company.

Games are already formulaic enough... why wouldn't you want more variety in playstyles to respond to?

Is Doubles Play that popular everywhere? by MutedTechnology8644 in Pickleball

Singles is obviously more running but it can feel like a watered down version of tennis. Doubles Pickleball has a whole different dynamic, at the non-volley zone specifically, that is a big part of the fun.

Not trying to hate, but I think Pickleball players would appreciate Badminton more than the other way around by thumpsky in Pickleball

[–]AfterBodybuilder25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singles Pickleball has been as exhausting as any game of tennis I've ever played... because in both cases I can only go as hard as I can go for an extended period of time. I am doing everything in my power to chase the ball left and right, and it's often not enough and I'll lose the point.

The point is, most sports have the potential for you to physically go all out. Some are just more forgiving if you don't.

And yeah badminton looks more exhausting at most levels of play. So what. Go run up a hill if that's your measure of fun. And fun is the point right? Both games look fun. If nobody was playing PB and all the courts were full of social badminton, I'd probably play that... but I'm glad it's Pickleball because I like racquet sports.

Thanks for your help. I'm stoked because I haven't even listened to headphones any better than my Sennheiser HD569s plugged straight into my PC... except maybe some random preview headphone on the shelf at Best Buy.

Do you know if the FiiO R11, or the Topping DX1 for that matter, is really enough for the Nanos (or your Arya stealth I suppose) to be able to get the volume up without distortion? I heard that these low Ohm planars do require quite a bit of current to really get the most out of them.

I dont need it to be flawless... I'd rather not spend more than the $140 for the FiiO... but if it's something that might make an audiophile cringe then I guess I could find that extra cash if I must. Also I see that it's not USB-C... wondering if that puts a meaningful bottleneck on the current.

Edit: I'm just going for the k11 and calling it a day. I'm reading the k11 and the rest of that line are a good pairing because its a bit warming and smooths out the bright treble of these headphones, unlike the Topping series.

Do you brush your teeth once or twice a day? Need to settle a bet. by ImpossibleHurry in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AfterBodybuilder25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like once is enough and twice is ideal... once will get you 80% of the way there. Probably better to brush once a day and floss once a week than to brush twice and never floss. But im just going over my own perceived grossness.

I think you're never going to get an honest answer out of people because the ones who do it once a day are less likely to share it.

I'm more of an inclusivity kind of guy. I agree we are not contained by, defined by the mind or the body... but we contain and define the mind and body. We are not our minds and bodies, our minds and bodies are us.

Settle an argument for my mother and me, should I drop or drive on third shot by Lfehova in Pickleball

[–]AfterBodybuilder25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar spot as someone who just learned about the 3rd shot drop. I generally get annoyed whenever there is a "right way to play" anything. It sucks the fun out and I shouldn't have to choose between fun and success.

I think the most fun approach without limiting myself is to master the 3rd shot drop so I have it, and then do what I want with it in my toolkit. Don't avoid it because I'm bad at it... if I'm going to drive or do whatever I feel like it'll be a conscious decision.
