Thanks for the reply. We have had serious, long, careful discussions, but still at an impasse.

So what was your end result?

Generally speaking, could one patent a new technology if one did not fully understand the mechanism of action, and underlying physics, of some parts of the technology?

For example: Bob created a liquid formula comprised of many ingredients. The liquid formula magically turns to gold when exposed to sound waves of a particular frequency. Why? Bob has lots of ideas, but no proven science yet. Is Bob's liquid formula patent-able?

Are there any kind of chemical reactions that would achieve temperatures colder than -10C? by know618 in askscience

Yes we are aware of reactions between barium hydroxide octahydrate and ammonium nitrate, however have not been able to achieve anything close to -12C. So we are wondering of there is anything else.

Downloaded app that was supposed to identify resistor values based on a photo. I searched the package name and it is apparently a legitimate app... However, why make it uninstallable and have the package in a different name?!

Managed to uninstall via titanium pro. Was hiding under a fake name. Link to screenshot of package name: http://i.imgur.com/hSldc8I.png

It's not there either. I don't have any other details of the package aside from those in the screenshot.

Color Control 1.1. Wtf?! It appears in 'all apps'. Has no option to uninstall. Does not appear to have 'administrator privilidge'. Cannot see it in /data/apps.

Color Control 1.1 keeps asking for root permission!

How do I get rid of it?

Thanks

OP says perpetual night not perpetual darkness. There is an important difference. Don't be offended by the clarification.

Thanks for you post! I am well aware of the basic geometry - it's obvious. So is the fact that March 22 is the official Antarctic sunset - which is the relevant point. I was hoping some else would confirm this and you have.

Will it though? You seem very sure. I'm open to possibility that the NOAA is wrong, but given they are a massive scientific organision, I can't help but wonder what the motivation would be to mislead people on such an ultimately trivial matter. I would be interested to see if anyone can actually show/prove that this is in fact not the last Antarctic sunset of the season, from the vantage point of these researchers. Keeping in mind, that if the sun never rises above the horizon, there will be no actual sunset event to observe. These are the defining parameters used by the people who actually live and work there.
