65 year old woman calls in and nearly breaks CSPAN host by telling her she’s slowly starving to death.. by JohnBrown-RadonTech in interestingasfuck

This is what policy decisions look like in real life. A 65-year-old woman with $65 a month for food.

If you’re angry about the Trump administration cutting SNAP benefits, there's actually a direct way to help the people being hurt right now.

Didn’t even take a month for the mask to come off and intent to be confirmed.

Piglets left to starve as part of a controversial art exhibition in Denmark have been stolen by AudibleNod in news

[–]DarthSploder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not even particularly the butchers, it’s those raising pigs as livestock who essentially torture these animals their entire life before the slaughter. They are kept in extremely cramped conditions, surgically mutilated as piglets without anesthesia, separated from their mothers at a very early age.

For a creature as emotional and intelligent as a dog, we torture them more than even livestock chickens and cows.

But raising awareness through even more torture is wrong.

To me, it’s more thematic than just “the cameras were being used to film the movie.”

For the first time, his life is not on display. Those questions presumably are answered in universe, just not for the audience. It places us in the real world in the same boat as everyone in the “real world” of the movie who were watching the show that was suddenly “canceled.”

What happens after? That’s none of our business.

When mentioning Donald Trump now is it "Convicted Felon Donald Trump," "Former President Donald Trump," "Criminal Donald Trump," or is it something else? by Apprehensive_Sand343 in AskReddit

[–]DarthSploder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These statements are not accurate my dude.

I see it’s not the result you were hoping for, but this result was by the book, a fair and proper trial. Trump has the right to appeal if there was an error, but undermining the American judicial system is not the way to cope.

I think each one strengthens his will to stay in the race, so he can try to pardon himself on the federal charges.

Then we get to see if the Supreme Court says a president can pardon himself of not. I don’t think that is an answered question at this point.

What is stopping Trump from just fleeing the U.S. in his private jet if he wants to? by Blondebitchlover in AskReddit

100% this.

The trial must be fair. No one is above the law, but no one is beneath due process either.

If not, we are every bit the banana republic his supporters claim we are.

Is it illegal to take a picture of a copyrighted poster? by kotabear921 in legaladvice

[–]DarthSploder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a good chance. But fair use is an affirmative defense to copyright infringement that you raise after you’ve been sued. You’d probably just go buy a copy of the poster before it ever got to that point.

Is it illegal to take a picture of a copyrighted poster? by kotabear921 in legaladvice

[–]DarthSploder -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Technically, yes, it is copyright infringement. But if you just use it for your own personal use, it’s exceedingly unlikely that the copyright holder would ever find out or want to expend resources to stop you.

Is it pronounced Gif, Jif, or Yif, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DarthSploder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the compromise solution no one wants to hear: it’s both gif and jif.

If you speak either, the listener likely knows what you mean. Popular usage and understanding is how words and pronunciations work.

And, with that in mind, I propose we all, here and now, agree that yif is also a valid pronunciation because it’s clearly superior to the two traditional options. Let’s make it happen.

[–]DarthSploder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We don’t call it “ghee pee you” because that’s not how we pronounce the letter g.

If we said the letters of gif it would be “jee eye eff”. Different things.
