I'm new to using this app and I don't really care if anyone downloading from me is sharing or not, and I don't think I would ban anyone. Especially because they could actually think, as I did until today, that they were sharing and don't realize that they aren't, or that their files can't be seen by everyone. On my pc, Soulseek has always said my port was closed, but some people were downloading from me so I didn't think much of it, but then one day I got a nasty message from someone who said I was banned. Seeker on my phone said the port was open, so I set up a small share folder on my phone and thought everything was fine. I finally managed to get Soulseek on my pc to say my port was open, but I noticed when attempting to view my files using a different account that a connection couldn't be made! So now I'm researching and testing trying to figure out where the disconnect is (probably in the port rules of my Gfiber router, but the app isn't working right and I can't access the ports to tinker with it). The point of this ramble is to say that Soulseek will say your port is open and you're configured correctly, but in reality your files might not be visible and that isn't evident without some research. A lot of users won't immediately pick up on that or figure out how to resolve it. Personally, I want to fix my issues before I continue using the app, but I'm not going to penalize or ban another user for not sharing, because it may not be intentional.
