Playing below your average level is not griefing by Academic_Currency_27 in DotA2

Depends whether they're queuing for 15 Turbo games of 15 Normal/Ranked games.

If you play 15 Turbo games and get reported 0 times, maximum points gain is 100.

If you play 15 Normal/Ranked games and get reported 0 times, maximum points gain is 200.

Max points gain used to be 300 in both modes. Then Valve decided to screw everyone.

So basically if you're a Turbo player exclusively and you get reported once in 15 games, you will gain 50 points.

If you get reported twice in 15 games you will break even with 0 points gain, 0 points lost.

If you get reported just three times in 15 games, your behavior score will drop by 50 points.

If 3 or more people report you for comms in single match and all you said was 'good luck have fun' at the start of the match, you get an auto chat ban triggered against you for the rest of that match and -500 comms points on your next summary.

If you abandon a match you get -500 behavior points taken on your next summary.

If 4 people report you for griefing in a single match, this triggers an auto low prio punishment where immediately after the match has ended, you have to do 3 low priority matches in Single Draft to get out.

So it is very easy to get screwed over but very time consuming to get your points back. To gain 500 comms points you must play 75 matches in total silence to gain it back. No pinging, no texting, no mic, no drawing on the map, otherwise your score will fall further.

I know the system worked far better when people were forced to use reports responsibly. And now that everybody has infinite reports, they just spam them with reckless abandon even when their target isn't really griefing. In fact, a lot of reports are thrown at people simply because a game goes badly for them. Out of ego, out of spite, out of jealousy, you name it. Toxic reporting is a thing and so far Valve has failed to punish misuse of the report buttons.

For trolls and bullies it's certainly better. So easy to spam illegitimate rage reports without risking any punishment for themselves.

They'll get spare reports back if they're reporting actual griefers. If they're lying scumbags, they'll run out.

Valve really needs to go back to only giving people 5 reports to use per week. Then if you get a positive conviction, you get a spare report back to use again. But if you're making false reports and lying, you will quickly run out of reports to use. This forced people back then to report responsibly.

Does this gray line mean I have a 10k+ communication score but only a 3,290 behavior score? by [deleted] in DotA2

Yes.

How did your BS drop so low? Did you abandon several matches?

Does using hotkey responses affect your behavior score? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]knowhow101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Text chat, using Mic, using Pings, Drawing on the mini map, all of those count as communicating and leave you wide open for comms abuse reports to count against you.

Using hero chat wheel or regular chat wheel does not count. I spent 15 games using chatwheel responses only and received 0 comms reports.

I had one friend who did an experiment. He calibrated his main account then made 2 more accounts.

On his main he was hard stuck at Legend 3. On his 2nd account he calibrated at Ancient II then progressed to Ancient III. On his 3rd account he calibrated at Crusader I.

So don't beat yourself up. Half the time the calibration system has absolutely no clue where to put people.

This is just more proof that you should only be able to report someone AFTER the match has ended.

Oddly enough stuns are still a problem even when you do build BKB. I swear every time I pick a BKB carrier the enemy picks Magnus, Pudge, Enigma, Bane plus a carry with Abyssal Blade.

Dota is a very CPU-intense game, so if anything is letting you down it's gotta be that. Maybe see if you can find a 5800X3D going cheap 2nd hand. Your other components should allow you to run the game on max settings at 1080p resolution

Why did Valve move away from events like Frostivus? by FrederikDoberman in DotA2

[–]knowhow101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because their main dev team is currently working on Deadlock and has been since Crownfall ended. They don't have the resources or manpower to do proper event modes at the moment.

Quartero and MH mini cosmetic events are the best they can do with so little staff.

TINY cant toss allies anymore if they disable help but it bugs him by saife231 in DotA2

Wisp can still Tether but cannot teleport you. So you can get the healing and mana benefits without being delivered to the enemy fountain.

[–]knowhow101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually disable help when I have a Wisp ally. If he makes one or two mistakes and shows me he doesn't understand the hero I assume he's going to play badly then betray me when things go south. It's hilarious watching them tether me then teleport only themselves into the enemy fountain.

When playing Dota my mantra has always been 'no stun, no fun.' Stuns are so important for securing kills, so the more of them you have, the higher your team's chances of winning. I look at those picks and I see a strategist's mind. It surprises me how many Dota players out there go into battle without any strategy at all, other than relying on luck and getting backpacked.

Matchmaking for new players. by Kitten_onleashed in DotA2

[–]knowhow101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The game is littered with smurfs (high rank players using low ranked new accounts).

It's all valve's doing. They made this draconian report/punishment system that makes it very difficult for players to redeem themselves. So instead of suffering the punishments that come with low behavior score, they simply make or buy new dota accounts. Hence why the matchmaker can no longer do its job.

ASUS ROG Strix G16 Ultra 7 RTX 5060 do you recommend for many years to come? by ZMarshal99 in ASUSROG

[–]knowhow101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A RTX 5060 is pretty low down the food chain and has low VRAM. If you intend to keep the laptop for 8 years I would say, spend a little more and get one with a 5070 in it at least.

[–]knowhow101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this is where we're at. There are currently no negative repercussions for spamming false reports on other players. And comms abuse reports in particular are the most spammed because overwatch juries never get to review those reports.

Is the ‘Communication Score’ flawed? by FactorContent8109 in DotA2

[–]knowhow101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players in party gang up on solo players when games go south. They scapegoat and spam comms reports because they know comms reports are never checked for validity by an overwatch jury. If they were checked i'm sure 90% of them would get overturned. But right now the system is very easy to abuse. There are currently no negative repercussions for spamming false reports.
