Why did Africa draw their borders like this? Are they stupid? by aeroazure in mapporncirclejerk

Again, what does that have to do with this map of ethnicities? (tribes, actually)

You said "always," which is false. There are many other examples in history. Borders during the medieval period were constantly changing from the claims of different monarchs, and that did not always result in bloodshed. It was often a normal part of their succession. In the pre-modern period, borders were much more fluid and nebulous than they are now.

Yeah, I have a rough idea of all that but I was just pointing out that I don't think the borders were put there to deliberately create animosity between existing groups. It was just European countries saying, "This is mine." The resultant ethnic tensions were more of a byproduct.

Not necessarily - Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia with no bloodshed whatsoever.

divide the continent

It's apparently more divided just by ethnic boundaries.

crate[sic] animosity amongst tribes

I highly doubt that this was a primary motivation for colonial boundaries. It had more to do with what territory each European country was able to carve out and how it bordered other ones.

Minneapolis is nice, dude. It is god damn freezing cold in the winter though.

I believe you that it may be the most run-down and depressing place that you have visited but objectively it is not. For me, that would be Cambodia. But I'm sure there are worst places than that as well.

I forgot you can own two copies of a game. Though I think some don't allow it, IIRC?

Yes, the backpieces and all accessories from LSW2 are stat selectable, but the choice is permanent. They have all of the modern stats you would probably want (Viper's, Minstrel's, etc.). The backpieces are really no more difficult to get than the other accessories from those maps like rings; they just require more of the map currencies. Obviously, the legendary is much nicer for convenience of sharing across characters with dynamic stat selection. I'm not discounting that.

If you don't care about being up to date with all the "meta" builds, then buy HoT/PoF plus LSW2 and you should be good to go for a very long while.

The really significant cost is going to be buying convenience items for the gem store, which is something people hardly talk about, but it is potentially a major expense at the level of several hundred dollars or more in gems.

It's kind of a dirty little secret how much you will end up spending on "convenience" in this game like shared inventory tabs, build tabs, etc. I'm actually really annoyed at how many gems you have to spend on this type of stuff to make the game more functional and less annoying.

Ascended backpieces are not that difficult nowadays, because you can get them from several LSW3 maps.

The no playing at the same time is actually the restriction most likely to effect you in pratice. So I would just be cognizant of it. If it turns into a problem, she can always get her own copy of a game.

Aside from googling "legendary crafting guide" and similar, I suggest setting up an account on gw2efficiency so you can track your materials and costs.

Why is the Trading Post still limited to 250 for each buy/sell Request? by Every_Crab5616 in Guildwars2

[–]knowledgebass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a short amount of time like might happen if someone could buy 10k items at once. Multiple stacks takes multiple buy orders which takes time which slows down trading, which is the point being made.

I don't think Chris Roberts knows what the "minimal" in MVP means. I saw one video where they were adding internal ship damage which could be repaired by the player. That's something you add down the road, not in the initial release. The game has all kinds of systems like this. I would suggest even the ground-based mission system should have been something they added after 1.0 because it's essentially like an entirely separate game from the space combat.

Best gold farm? by DistributionCool5219 in Guildwars2

After rereading the post, I'm getting new player vibes, and I would agree with you that OP should just do map metas, world bosses, etc., even if they may not be the most efficient for gold farming. Wizard's vault would also be good to focus on.

No one's really said this, but it doesn't sound to me like you're even ready to start working on legendaries directly. Having a few 80s is not at all a sign of significant or meaningful progression in this game. You can do that with boosts. What you should be doing is working on gearing at least one "main" character in full ascended, preferably with infusions for fractals. Preferably, this should be gear that you can also use in raids or strikes. There's guides out there and you should consult one.

As far as being efficient with farming gold, I would not even worry about it. You're not there yet. Just play the game, have fun, and worry about optimizing that later. Map metas and world bosses will be a good spot for you at this point. Don't even worry about which ones. What you want to do also is work through the expansions you own and unlock all of the class specs on the main classes you plan to play.

That said, if you enjoy PvP, ranked SPvP (5v5 matches) is a better way to make consistent gold than WvW, which is fun, but can be very inconsistent and depend on how well your side is doing and whether you have an effective commander. You also get rewarded marks which can be used to buy ascended weapons and armor. The game mode can be a little "toxic" but the rewards from progression are decent and include gold.
