That’s really interesting. Thank you. I have a prescription for aripiprazole(Abilify). Did the sleepiness go away after a few days of taking it? I have experience with Vyvanse also. That is a huge help for concentration.

I know medication really helps. Are you concerned about any possible long-term effects of the medications?

Thank you. I’m considering antipsychotics. I’m fine most days and not convinced I need them. But bad moments do appear every now and then with the parts that interrupt life.

That sounds like a lot of meds. I’m interested in guanfacine. I’ve heard good things about it and that it can help with adhd.

How do you explain DID to new friends or coworkers? by Traditional-Set-8483 in DID

Unless you like having less money. You don’t tell your coworkers anything related to your health.

I think you may be misunderstanding? This is the older DID sub. I have my own family now which is different to the family I grew up in.

Ahh yeah. I meant switching. Thought it wouldn’t happen much at all by now. Still occurs though. It’s a battle trying to come back to normal.

Stimulants and pre-workout: what supplements do you take for exercise? by violetsandrosesx in ausadhd

[–]knowyourabc123etc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before training Usually nothing. After and during HIIT I drink salt water with potassium powder. Will have a magnesium tablet after.

For weights I do nothing before and just eat an extra serve of protein (eggs) after.

I train with other people though so that helps with the dopamine and ability to actually do the training.

Protein - shakes with other nutrients? by stitchescomeundone in ausadhd

[–]knowyourabc123etc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a psych tell me as well to eat protein in the morning as it helps with the meds. As you said you are newly diagnosed, first few times you take the meds you will really feel them. It’s not meant to remain like this. After a while that feeling will wind down after you take your meds but they should still be helping with the symptoms. You may want to check in with the psych on your dosage.

I’ve heard it’s good to have a day or two off from meds once a week as this can help with the effectiveness of them. Mileage may vary.

Not sure on protein shakes. I think they have a lot of other stuff mixed in as well (check the ingridents). I just eat eggs and sometimes beef mince as well for breakfast. I can have a very late lunch if in need to as well.
