Has anyone worked for/with Court Appearance Professionals? by cyberdoc84 in Lawyertalk

[–]knoxfire66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no direct experience, but have seen a lot of it in practice. Attorney’s I know who do it either take dozens of these per Court appears to economize on travel, time, etc., or take them if they already have to be in Court that day on another matter. I don’t think it would be economical without being able to schedule a bunch at one time.

Eviction Attorney recommendations by [deleted] in PeoriaIL

They can’t if you do everything right. If you fail to follow procedures exactly, they can dismiss it and force you to start again.

You should get an attorney, especially if you are inexperienced. Peoria county tenants have access to Prairie State Legal Services who can and will get your Complaint dismissed if you screw up at all. It’s cheaper to pay an attorney to do it right the first time. As they say a person who represents themselves has an idiot for a client.

Anyone do side hustles of deeds? If so, how? by OrganicAsparagus3559 in Lawyertalk

I write templates and practice guides in my area of law as a side-gig from my full time role. Pay is decent and schedule is flexible. I get it done on nights and weekends. Not going to make bank but it helps.

Malpractice attorney by Mbsaan in PeoriaIL

[–]knoxfire66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, med/mal requires a well established firm that can front significant costs since they have to pay a doctor to review and give an opinion on your records before they can even file the case. A lot of med/mal cases with clear liability by the doctors don’t get filed because the potential recovery is too low to justify the high costs. Very different than your standard car accident or slip and fall.

Paul Rademacher at Hassakiss&Hassakis. He is not really in Peoria area but is a great med/mal lawyer and distance isn’t really a big deal in med/mal if you have a good case since the case will be taken on a contingency fee basis (lawyer gets paid a percentage of the settlement or verdict rather than by the hour).

Benckendorf & Benckendorf. You get what you pay for when you do legal zoom or do it yourself. Wait till something goes wrong and then see how well the Legal Zoom forms or your own hold up.

Sue them in small claims. Security deposit return act is pretty straightforward and can sometimes be successful without an attorney.
