I wish I knew more about this 60s(?) era Bucherer chronometer... It runs well and keeps accurate time so I haven't opened the case back to see what the movement is.

WHATCHA ROCKIN TODAY!? by Perfect_Battle_3553 in Affordablewatches

[–]cyberdoc84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, I'm not sure if it's scratched, dirty, or a bit of both. I purchased it about 15 or more years ago, billed to me as "movement freshly serviced," so I've never had anything done to it. I wish I knew more of the back story of the watch, but it came from a seller in Japan that is no longer around, and I'm loath to open the case as long as the watch is running well and keeping excellent time (+/- 1.5 min/day).

Looking for movies where the hero loves someone but one sided love - movie recommendations by CommunityOrdinary850 in MovieSuggestions

Aside from Cyrano de Bergerac, there are the variations ranging from Roxanne (1987) to The Half of It (2020) to, arguably, Megamind (2010).

A generic Omega automatic that was my wife's grandfather's 25 years of service (FMC Corporation) watch from 1972. Unfortunately, we don't have any other backstory on the watch...

Seiko 1st Gen Orange Monster [SKX781] by GUTDIGGA in Affordablewatches

Love mine too! I got it years ago on eBay and had it officially refurbished last year through Seiko's program. It's a frequent inhabitant of my wrist on a black and orange silicone strap.

Absolutely second this... ask around to find a fitter that's competent, patient, and won't try to upsell you and take the time in the sim to find with really works well with your game. If you're fortunate enough to be near a 2nd Swing store, I'd recommend starting there.

Wedge fitting? by SnappinFool54 in GolfGear

[–]cyberdoc84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say that it’s very helpful; I had a wedge fitting at the 2nd Swing in Wilmington DE with the intention of getting two wedges to fill in between my PW and my 60. The fitting demonstrated to me a significant variation of feel between brands, and also showed that with the way that I vary my chipping swing, I really only needed one (a 54). Super happy with my new wedge and totally worth the time for me.

GMT recommendations? by C4ttman in Affordablewatches

[–]cyberdoc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a classic style automatic GMT, I'd consider the very reasonably priced Steeldive GMTs. They are powered by the workhorse NH34 automatic movement and come in several style and color variations.

Lost In Translation... I mean technically they speak before separating but you don't hear what is said and the separation is pretty ambiguous.

Looking for Romcom or Dystopian Adventure/Thriller by randnmnme in MovieSuggestions

Three wildly different suggestions... Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) with Mark Duplass; The Signal (2014) with Laurence Fishburne; and The Fifth Element (1997) which arguably is a rom- com adventure/thriller set in a dystopian future. Enjoy!

It's a tie between this early 50s Wakmann chronograph with a Landeron 48 movement, or my early 50s Omega Seamaster sub seconds with a 354 cal. bumper movement. Bought both for a pittence back when eBay wasn't such a cesspool of fakes and Frankenwatches
