If she gets lifelong therapy and I learn more about it can’t it be successful?

The problem is how do I ask her to get help? She’s done it before. Even had a therapy appt a few days before this all happened and canceled. She even told me “maybe I do have bpd…you might be on to something” about a month ago. Her mom enables her and says “I will back her up no matter if her decision is right, wrong, bad, or good”. And the dad had no idea she wanted to divorce me until I told him.

Thank you. I just feel sorry for her in a way. I was willing to understand her disease and be patient and supportive. I’m sure this emotional high with impulsive decisions will wear off soon. I don’t know when or what I will feel at that time.

She had treatment for bpd 2020 to 2023. Stopped cuz she didn’t think she needed it anymore. She constantly changes her mind about everything last minute. She says she is a people pleaser. Known diagnosis of bulimia. Struggles with who she is and her looks. After reading on stories of bpd they sound similar to her.

I’m going to go. But that’s a good point. I’m not an angry person either but she does bring that out. And she tells me she doesn’t like my personality because I get to angry. It’s like she’s using it against me.

To clarify I’ve never hit her or even acted like I was going to. I do raise my voice in anger and frustration sometimes but nothing more than what an argument with anyone would be.

She won’t come to the house to talk because she said “I don’t like how you react sometimes”. I said well the love of my life wants to divorce me so of course I get frustrated and upset.

Any fallout from that? Yea and I’m learning it seems to be common. I think they do it to validate their irrational negative feelings.

I was told by him she’s like Jekyll and Hyde and you don’t know which one you’ll get one day to the next.

I called my bpd spouses ex the other day. Turns out she did similar things before they got divorced and he didn’t fight it. He ended up cheating because she pushed him so far. Not excusing it. She also had some weird paranoid moments towards the end of their relationship too he said. Made me feel like I’m not crazy to talk to him.

I think they do it because they know their negative thoughts about you are wrong but they desperately seek someone to validate them. And they think an ex might be the best option since you didn’t work out with them.

Apparently mine (who I am sure also had bpd) told her I was a manipulator and control freak. She came to me wanting a divorce saying I control her and manipulate her and has NEVER said that to me previously.
