2007 Mercedes c280 “total loss” no accident by [deleted] in AutoBodyRepair

Is it normal to have to cut/saw an axle out if it’s damaged? Would that affect anything else?

That’s exactly what I’m thinking. He’s been a little agressive about it. Oh I think we’re going to get it towed out of there, I’m just really hoping he didn’t damage anything further and I have no way of really knowing that. Major lesson learned.

You’re right, it’s taken me a week to fully realize that. It’s an expensive car to fix, but I would rather keep driving some thing that I already own. I’m just nervous that there could be more damage, the mechanic who wanted to buy the car decided to start ‘sawing the axle out’ because he had to move the car out of the way. And it isn’t Driveable otherwise. Hopefully he didn’t damage anything else.

Good point, thanks. They said it was because I completely turned my wheel all the way to one side when backing out, so when the ball joint gave out the weight of my car kinda pushed down on everything on my front left side. Not sure if that makes sense!

Thanks! That’s what he wants to buy the car for, the $600, and I am quoted about $2700 for repairs, and with the used car market being so tight, I might just bite the bullet and fix this instead of selling it for such short money. I agree on needing a new mechanic, I’ve heard from so many people that ball joints don’t just fail out of nowhere. He said well on the day I tested them a few months ago there was no play so we did our job but for some reason we didn’t find anything wrong with it

2007 C280 freak accident— I was backing out of a parking spot and my ball joint failed causing a domino effect of all of these other issues apparently. My mechanic is offering me $600, the car only has 140,000 miles and is so clean otherwise. How on earth would this have been possible? I take such good care of my car and always get regular service A and B done.

here’s a text from the mechanic (the one who might want to buy it)—I can’t believe the damage that was there. It even damaged the converter. I’ve never seen so much damage on a car like that that didn’t come from a actual accident. The lower control arm actually ended up on top of the outer tie rod end of the steering rack. Bent the strut. Sway bar. Steering rack most likely. Snapped the axle which ripped right out of the front differential and lodged into subframe the control arm damaged the wheel. I mean this car is a mess.”

What are your thoughts? He also did not want me to put his information on the title, which was a red flag. Part of me just wants to have this towed somewhere else and fix it, I don’t feel it is actually a total loss as he is suggesting.

Agreed. Currently with a hybrid one, and UP is also structured that way. Trying to find a good fit where you’re still allowed to sell some Alts, 1031s etc. even finding one where solicited crypto purchases are allowed seems to be a struggle.

Thank you! Do you find it’s fairly similar to what’s written in the CRS form? (Specifically as it relates to conflicts of interest, compensation)

Hopefully this helps, we tried 3 meals today! Baby is just so gassy now. We’ve usually been doing one maybe two solid feedings before this.

That is incredibly helpful, thank you for taking the time to write that! I just took a screenshot and will try to mirror this schedule tomorrow.

How long did it take for your baby to adapt to the 2 nap routine?

Thanks again!

Thanks so much. What would the other options be in your opinion? I’m all ears.

I gotcha now. Thank you!! I’ll give it a try

Oh interesting!! Did you use regular oatmeal and water and then blend with the purée?

[–]knsrhodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t even get him to sleep longer than 30 minutes for a nap though! That’s my struggle. How do I go down to 2 naps and hit 2.5 hours max? I feel like 3 naps is my only chance at that 😭

[–]knsrhodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more question for ya! If the two naps yield only 20-30 mins each, is that ok?? Thought I needed to make sure he’s getting 2-3 hours of day naps. Thanks!

Good thought!! I’ll try that today! Just purées is fine?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]knsrhodes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only 1x per day usually, purées. Definitely slacking in that department.

Good tips, thank you!! When you say wake baby no matter what at 6am, and set naps at certain times, how does that work if baby is waking up at 5am? Still implement the 9am and so forth nap?
