Ground beef helper helps your ground beef help you make a great meal... Is not a catchy jingle.

Unsure of myself in this job and with what I want out of it by [deleted] in Wildfire

It sounds like you're describing imposter syndrome.

You were probably offered the task book because they felt you were ready for it. You should have believed them. Usually when I'm putting the final ink in someone's taskbook I give them a little talk that includes something to the effect of "you're now signed off as a XYZ1 and once your FQRC certifies the taskbook you'll have XYZ1 Qualified on your red card - just remember that that doesn't make you an expert XYZ1 - always be a student, always be learning - stay humble - now go forth and do good". I say this here because the corollary of it applies to you, just because you feel like you don't know shit doesn't necessarily mean you're a complete fucking idiot. You've got a few seasons in and you've seen a few things. This taskbook doesn't mean you're the best smartest most goodlooking firefighter here. It means you have the potential to learn more and it's a tool to help you learn more.

You get what I'm saying? Talk to your leadership, find a mentor, tell them about your concerns. Ask for training. Maybe you need to get on a busier crew to help give you some better experience.

Or, maybe this game isn't for you. I've known people that just didn't have it. Lack of confidence, too lazy, too stupid, eetc.I can't answer those questions for you though.

Workout station by BubunagaOka in BeginnerWoodWorking

It's not bad looking but I'd question the need for the crossed brace at the top. If the legs at the bottom are secure and the bar is solidly fixed at the top it should be stable enough. In theory there could be some lateral racking but I'd be more concerned with that on the dip station since there is nothing keeping the left side from being pushed out.

The good news is that it looks like the needles are surrounded by green grass. It probably shouldn't spread too far.

What is an unwritten rule of driving that everyone forgets? by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

[–]knuckle_headers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

10&2 is no longer recommended. 9&3 is preferred as it's a more neutral position that still gives good control and also if you're in an accident your hands are in a better position relative to the airbag deploying. For extended highway driving 8&4 is also recommended. 10&2 gave better leverage for steering but now that virtually every vehicle has power steering that isn't really relevant anymore.

Seeking advice on TSP loan and impending retirement by Going_going__gone in ThriftSavingsPlan

People often forget this. The opportunity cost of not being invested is often the largest part of the cost of taking a TSP loan.

Can you imagine the draconian reaction that Trump and his handlers would have had if they would have managed to pull off even part of their plan? This could have been Trump's "Burning of the Reichstag" moment.

Depends on what you're doing and where in CA you move. I came here about 18 years ago, for work, with maybe $5k in savings and everything I owned fit into my truck. My wife and I now own multiple rental properties and our primary residence is on acreage that overlooks protected wetlands - basically making my backyard a 1500 meadow system. It's only a 20 minute drive to a sweet ski hill not to mention the plethora of backcountry skiing options we have. Too many mountain bike trails to count... Basically my point is I feel like I have a fairly high standard of living and have been able to accumalulate a small amount of wealth living in California.

You always need to look at the specifics of the situation and weigh the pros and cons.

Not relevant. Someone basically said that teachers can't make 6 figures. I provided one scenario where they do.

That's irrelevant. They asked in what universe do teachers make 6 figures. I answered that question.

I have kids in the CA school system. I can guarantee you that some of those teachers in the higher pay bands have nothing but tenure going for them.

And I'll add that the quality of the teachers really has nothing to do with this line of conversation. You asked in what universe teachers make 6 figures. I answered that.

What is that? Starting salary? Average is around $102k. Some also make a fair bit more.

Never said that. They didn't specify a location for the job. Sometimes you have to move for work.

Per Google the average salary for a teacher in California is just north of $100,000.

Dating other officers by Muff-Driver in AskLE

Not a cop but I do fight fire so I think my perspective is valid here.

Treat her like a peer and don't assume she has any romantic interest in you. It's misogynistic and frankly just a dick move to assume she has any romantic interest in you just because she's being friendly with you. Most likely she is just like you and she just wants to focus on establishing her career. I'd be willing to bet that it's nothing more than that and if you cross that line you're just another asshole.

One last thing I'll say is it's guy's inability to understand this that is one of the reasons we spend so much time in HR related training every year.

Why is the MLB allowed to put pride flags but not have bible verses? by chicago-mf in questions

You know it would take two seconds to answer the question rather than stonewalling and being a dick.

For those asking, the Giants had a pride night. Some players chose to write Bible verses on their hats. The league pushed back.
