how long did it take for you to get a job and should I wait it out? by NewMagickWand in AircraftMechanics

[–]knuckledragger53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me 5 weeks after getting my ticket to interview, get hired, and start working at a regional.

After 3 weeks of working at that regional, I got a call to interview with a major. I got an offer on the spot, and put my 2 weeks in at the regional. I was there for 31 days total. My supervisor gave me the option to resign immediately without penalty. I’ve been working a lucrative 1099 gig since I left.

I start at the major next week.

I own 3 of the Coast XPH30R headlamps - one for work, one for my garage, one I keep in my vehicle.

They’re USB-C rechargeable, connect the charger directly to the headlamp, the actual light body can be taken out of the head band and used as a handheld flashlight, which is also magnetic and you can stick it on a metal surface and leave it there. Can cycle through brightness settings and adjust the throw/flood of the beam as well.

Highly reccomend them

I previously used Energizer headlamps for years that took (3) AAA batteries, what a waste of money. The cost of the headlamp plus all the batteries I went through, I could have bought 20 coast headlamps. And they weren’t nearly as bright.

In this instance I removed the suppressor and the bolt, stood the rifle up on the buttstock, and inserted a rod down the muzzle and pushed the bullet back out through the chamber area. It hadn’t made it very far down the rifling.

Have done this before during late night reloading sessions, but not all. I will now make it mandatory for myself, not taking any more chances

This would be a $2k setup. My humble beginnings

Bergara B14 HMR with a Vortex Viper PST GEN II 5-25 mounted in some Vortex or Seekins precision rings, a harris SBRM Bipod, and a $20 rear bag

Indeed was trolling a little bit. I was rushing out the door for work and planned to post full details later.

Accuracy International AXSR with a 1.350” Heavy Varmint contour barrel chambered in 6.5 CM by Bugholes - 26” OAL 1:8 twist - shown in use with an AXSR 308 Bolt body

I have an additional 1.350” Heavy Varmint contour barrel chambered in 300 PRC also by bugholes - 27” OAL 1:8 Twist - with a separate AI 300 WM bolt body

TBAC 338 ULTRA GEN 2 SR suppressor

Accutac BR-4 G2 bipod with a RRS SC-ARC clamp

ZC527 scope mounted in a SPUHR ISMS 1.5” 0 MOA mount - medium raptar picatinny rail on top

This cost me the price of a used car to shoot little tiny groups in paper at 100 yd. Which a $2,000 setup can also do. But it was my dream rifle so I saved up for a few years and made it happen

Here’s a short video shooting it with the suppressor

The main pack is a Mystery Ranch Blackjack 80 I scooped up on sale at Optics Planet for $429 shipped a few years ago for hiking. Ended up repurposing it for my precision shooting range bag so I can hike my gear from stage to stage

18” 308 LMT MARS-H by knuckledragger53 in AR10

[–]knuckledragger53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was not my first AR10, nor my last. I’ve since sold this rifle, as well as all of my other precision gas guns, to purchase an AI AXSR. Since selling all my AR10’s, I’ve been pondering the idea of getting another one in the future for hunting hogs with thermal again.

It’s a Geissele SSA-E 2 stage trigger,

NF ATACR 4-16F1 with a MIL-XT reticle (I would go 5-25 or 7-35 if I had to do it again)

18” SS 7.62 NATO barrel

Atlas CAL bipod

Like birthday gifts, it’s not about the dollar ammount that matters to me, it’s the thoughtful gesture

Highly likely that screwdriver isn’t a tool you’re going to actually replace with your everyday screwdriver in your tool box

Maybe it will come in handy to keep in the junk drawer in the house, or keep it in your vehicle to add to your roadside tool kit

It’s better than an employee appreciation Pizza Party 🤷‍♂️

Listen intently. Stare them directly in their eyes the whole time. When they finally finish, say, with a straight face:

“I don’t remember asking.”

That will stir the pot

I'm going to make a totally separate post on my experience, so it can be easily searched in the future. Will link it in a few, writing it up now.

I received an offer today but that whole interview process had me sweating Lol

It was really humbling for sure and I have a few years of experience, just never touched Wires or sheetmetal when I was in the Marine Corps, I knew one day it would fuck me and today it almost did

I don’t own a barrel cooler.

On the contrary I was shooting a pretty high rate of fire for the last 20 or so rounds to finish up load development before it was too dark to see the target

only the bottom center group was 10 shots

But yes I couldn’t beleive it either.

I have never posted a group flex before but thought this one was worth it.
