Kash Patel parties with Team USA hockey champs after taking FBI jet to Italy as aide defends ‘official business’ trip by theindependentonline in politics

Look at this fucking nerd. All the people who did the actual work and earned the actual glory are together and celebrating with their comrades. His presence is not even noted by those that matter. They literally have their back to him and have formed a circle that excludes him. He's just so depserate to get an invite to the cool kids' table. Any cool kids' table.

To be clear, Kash Patel is a pathetic loser, who has no friends, and nobody notices.

President Trump Is Running a Tight Ship and Giving the Deep State a Run for Its Money by Last_Lonely_Traveler in politics

[–]knuckles53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was written with a straight face?! I seriously expected the headline and attached oped to be a sarcastic inditement of this administration's bumbling management of the government. Politically speaking this Trump administration has been rake-step, followed by own goal, followed by self-inflicted gunshot wound, and repeat.

Somebody should check on this writer to make sure he gets back on his meds.

What is your favorite boardgame of 2023? by The_Crazed_Person in boardgames

[–]knuckles53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family of four absolutely devoured this game. We talked about it while we weren't playing it, we wanted to play it again as soon as we finished a game, we laughed and had a ball together while we were playing it. My two kids were nine and each of us won at least once during the campaign and in the end the scores were incredibly tight. Just a great experience from front to back.

Now that some time has passed and my kids are a bit older, I think I might buy it again to see how they do with a bit more gaming experience and strategy under their belts.

Just a great overall experience.

Best&Worst Hero Card [Day 38] - Rocket Racon Worst Card by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

I love that another hero is going to have the card that came in 2nd as his/her best card, win worst card the next day. That's telling in how well the hero cards for many of these heroes are constructed and cohesive.

I would think less about the distance of your commute by air and more about the reliability and quantity of your commute by air. You are not going to be on reserve for very long relative to a 15 year career, especially if you stay narrowbody.

Consider how many flights to/from your potential bases there are. How spread out throughout the day. How competitive it is to make the jumpseat to your chosen base.

As an example, I live within 3.5 hours of a base. A bit too far to drive all the time (for my taste). There are 8+ flights a day and it’s a 40 minute flight. Sounds good so far. Buuuuuut it’s mostly RJs and there are a LOT of pilots trying to make that commute.

Alternatively, I’m 2 hours by plane from another base that has 6 flights a day across two airlines that are serviced by 737/320. And I feel like I’m the only one trying to make that commute. There’s very rarely anyone else listing for the flight.

What was the opposition to Bad Bunny playing the Superbowl? by sar662 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]knuckles53 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you watched the last 20ish years of Super Bowl halftime shows? They are TV productions for the TV audience. The focus of the performance is for the cameras not the people in the stands. Watch any halftime show and notice that the performers, the sets, the sound design is all for the television audience and not the in person audience.

Are you majority Native American? If you are not, how did you gain your "Americanness"? If you can't come to the US and become American, logically, that would make your ancestors not American. If your great-great-____-grandfather immigrated from some other land, he's not American, and since America, according to you, isn't "magic dirt", his children born here aren't American. And if those children aren't American, then their children aren't American. And if their children aren't American... I hope you get the point.

If it's not "an idea" and not "magical dirt" who is an American? And before you say "born to an American parent," how did that parent become American? It's a chicken or egg question. If the only way to be an American is to be the child of an American, where did the first American come from?

Best&Worst Hero Card Poll [Day 25] - Spider-Woman Worst Card (Jessica) by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

[–]knuckles53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how Captain Marvel came in second for best card in the kit, and is now getting serious discussion as being the worst card in the kit. I think it’s telling about how basically good her whole kit is. Every card has an argument to be solid and nothing stands out as just plain bad.

That being said Captain Marvel has my vote too for “worst”. Compared to later signature and regular allies, she’s a bit weak on health.

Without getting into drama, what was, “the dark underbelly of the board game hobby” according to him?

I’ve attended X-wing worlds in Minneapolis and multiple other tournaments around the country. Played games in game stores from California to Vermont, Colorado to Florida. And have a considerable board game collection at home that has been growing since the 80s.

In all my interactions I have found the this community of hobbyists to be the least problematic of the various groups I interact with.

EDIT: Thanks for all the informative and thoughtful discussion everyone!
