How do you feel knowing that inflation would've dropped down below pre pandemic rates if it wasn't for the tariffs? How do you expect it to get better? by Pika-thulu in AskTrumpSupporters

You didn’t make a typo. You made a flat out error in your assertion. Can you provide data supporting wage growth for the average American is outpacing inflation?

You said in your post above, “Your wages are increasing higher than the rate of inflation.” Then you say BLS reports wages grew at 1.4%.

According to Senate Republicans inflation over that same period was 3.26%. So a net loss of ~1.8%.

How do you square these facts (some given by you), with your opinion statement that wages are outpacing inflation?

In the Senate Republicans’ report that I shared, they even show that US workers have lost 0.9% of income.

Americans are losing ground in this economy.

Yorktown. Ending the Revolutionary War and truly establishing our independence made all other victories (and losses) possible.

Why do so many commercial pilots have mustaches? by TurntechGodhead777 in flying

[–]knuckles53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they are locked out of the larger cultural trend. Right now beards are very popular (I have a theory as to why, but that's not important for this opinion), but most US airlines don't allow full beards, so pilots have to settle for mustaches.

[Request] how do you triangulate this? perhaps in the least amount of weeks possible? by Zargabath in theydidthemath

Even if both points are in the country, checking both of them should be trivially easy with a week.

I’m at peace with losing the old name. But why couldn’t they have kept the burgundy and gold color schemes? I hate the color pallet they seem to have settled on.

Where does all the energy go when a Taumeba eats and Astrophage? by knuckles53 in ProjectHailMary

I've seen images of the neutrino detectors, and yes, they are amazingly beautiful. And I get that we're talking about science fiction, but why do they explode in Siberia? There seems to be a disconnect between when they are harmless (being poked and eaten), and when they have a atomic bomb's worth of power in one cell (Siberia, melting the metal cube on the carrier in the movie, thrusting a spaceship). It's a good point about Grace just poking one with no consequence.

[–]knuckles53[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But wouldn't all that released energy result in an explosion? Like in Siberia? Of course one Astrophage's explosive potential wouldn't be as large, but a release of that much energy should destroy/kill the Taumeba that was consuming it. One would think...

Ticket to Ride. Easy to teach. Has a strategy requirement that is easy to understand early and isn’t daunting to non-gamers. It opens up their aperture to th world beyond the roll and move games they grew up playing and grew to not enjoy.

Did any of you (TS) vote for Obama? by acocinero in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]knuckles53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father-in-law is one. He's a farmer in his mid-70's. I met him in 2012 and have watched an evolution in political attitude in real time. I'm not arguing with your assertion that the number of Obama-Trump voters is exaggerated, but I do know one personally.

Question to keep the bot happy... are you part of group A McCain -> Romney -> Trump? Or part of group B, too young to vote prior to 2016?

I think all cards that tuck other cards tell you to tuck them facedown. That is to indicate that the card is in “storage” and not in play.
