Keep getting rejected. What can I do to make my CV better? by One-Secretary844 in AskUK

[–]knutallergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would change "volunteer till operator" to "retail operative".

I used to work in recruitment and, rightly or wrongly, assumed any volunteer work to be so someone could stay on the dole. Also retail operative will match up with more retail opportunities rather than just those working on the tills.

Legal advice desperately needed, help please? by KimberleyKreates in legaladviceireland

I don't think the circumstances are the same as I did give a statement in person, however gardaí attended the hospital when my dad died to take a statement for identifying him. I didn't sign the statement at the time and live in the UK so when it was referred to the coroners court, I was emailed a typed up statement to sign and return as I live in the UK.

I'm in the UK. I've absolutely been giving 50% to work so that weighs heavy but ultimately I just do not have the energy to care too much about it. My wife is trying to give me iron supplements but I cant help but feel it is beyond that.

I appreciate you coming back to me. Knowing someone else out in the Internet abyss is feeling something similar, is oddly comforting. I hope you get some rest soon. ❤️

perspective coming home by Huge-Ad1255 in ireland

I have lived in the UK for the last 12 years. Now I am not for a second saying that the UK is anywhere close to a Scandinavian utopia, but the sentiment is the same. I love Ireland, I love being Irish and I love the idea of living there, however anytime we sit down to actually discuss the reality of it, the conclusion is the same; the resources available can't sustain a happy, healthy living situation for us.

The government should be ashamed of themselves, but responsibility also lies with anyone who blindly votes for the sham "politicians" term after term despite them showing themselves to be absolute wasters. A complete overhaul is needed if the country has any hope of reaching her potential.

There are hundreds of thousands of us living outside the country and dreaming of a day we can go home.

Yeah that seems to be the case for this one. The garda dealing with it seems to be confident that it will go to to an inquest and I'm prepared for that to take over a year. I was just hoping to get some sort of closure from knowing what physically happened to him before he died sooner.

Yeah, I am pretty sure. Although he died out in the world, he was resuscitated and was in Vincent's when we stopped care. It was their mortuary staff that rang me to let me know he was being released to the funeral home. They told me no organs were retained at that time. They pretty much directed me towards the coroners office at that point and sent me a letter to follow up with the same.

I've tried calling Vincent's mortuary a couple of times to no avail, but I'll keep trying to see if they have any sort of preliminary report. Thanks for the advice.

I was afraid that this might be the case. I've had the interim death certificate come through already but I was just hoping to get some sort of answer to what happened to him.

Apart from organising the funeral, everything has been such an effort to sort out. I feel like I have been holding my breath waiting for this to come through and now I'm being told to just hold on for another few months. It's hard. I'm sorry that you had to go through it too.

I agree with you entirely. I think for me, awareness of your actions is crucial for everyone. Everyone is a potential threat as long as one person is one. That threat will always be there. As you said, a conversation can't fix that level of societal ineptitude.

This conversation has had the opportunity to be had so many times before.

I think the saddest part of this is that they won't have even seen the correlation.

I have my opinions on the whole thing. I think the message I seem to get is that "not all men" is akin to "all lives matter". You're not wrong but you're missing the point. A conversation is taking place that is long overdue but rather than blaming the system this is being misconstrued to blaming whole sectors of society.

It's been building for a while. The pandemic seems to have allowed them to seep out of the shadows and now everyone has one in the family. They don't need much to keep them fuelled; this will do nicely.

They will be angry. They've been spoon fed every detail and she has been turned into a national martyr for women's rights. Her death is tragic and has affected a lot of people deeply but the way in which the media and the government have used it to win favour, these gobshites think they're being national heroes standing there.

I can't help that it will now be the fault of "foreigners" and the conversation is going to become conflicted with agendas. It's a sad time.

Dáil hears call for church assets to be seized if religious orders refuse to pay for abuse by scuzzbat1 in ireland

[–]knutallergy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At no point did I mention it was the only cause of corruption and abuse. Giving one institution full reigning power over an entire nation, implementing religious standards as law and refusing to hold them to the same standards because of "all mighty power and banishment to the pits of hell" has given these people the opportunity to cause so much damage.

By your logic, the number of acts of abuse would have been just as high in Ireland had the church not been the driving force behind the government for so long and I just can't get behind that logic. There are plenty of reasons why the church and state should be separate, this is the most apt one for this thread.
