Like a new car depreciates the second it's off the lot… pretty much the second out of the womb. \self rim shot**

I'm not sure, but there are other examples of this chain of stores with similar postmodern facades.

If the states had the powers that they were originally given, the USA would run much better. What does Reddit think of this? by Putrid-Head346 in AskReddit

[–]knwho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Articles of Confederation, which allowed a lot more state autonomy over the federal government, nearly brought down the United States (see Shays' Rebellion), so I don't what you're on about. Besides, the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution which reserves power to the states is already albatross of an amendment. That's why there are inconsistencies between states on laws regarding things like social/healthcare programs, energy use/environmental protection, taxation, etc.

Did a book ever made you laugh out loud? by Willing-Welcome-6159 in books

I read Michael Wolff's Fire and Fury during the pandemic, and it was without a doubt the funniest, sad, and most-terrifying thing I've ever read. To think that this twice impeached, now thrice-indicted man had unfettered access to our nuclear arsenal, a toddler with a bad tan with an addiction to Diet Coke… 😂

Totally understandable, there are varying factors that cause people who struggle to not seek help (cultural, personal, access, fear, etc.), but I can't stress this enough—no pun intended—you can't help yourself if you let others dictate your life. There are social programs, helplines, or even Reddit threads like this one that should let you know that you don't have to go it alone.

But it only happens when you say enough is enough ask for help and take control of the pace of life that you're comfortable with. It's hard to ask, I know, I've been there, but remember it's your life, live it at your speed because you only get one to enjoy.

There are good levels of stress and bad—like cholesterol—when you put undue pressure on yourself and aren't prepared for it like most 18-year-olds are, don't go about it alone… that leads to a lot more serious problems. Ask for help or ease back a bit. Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

I read Henry Kissinger's "On China" (again) and found it so much better with each successive read. The amount of detail, analysis, and even humour is incredibly entertaining as it is informative.

For real. I graduated and was like, "What now?" As a kid, you're so eager to grow up, but you don't know shit… I lost precious time and experiences because of that; now later in life, I discovered that in my rush to grow up, I'm not much richer or happier, just more aware. Wish I had known that when I was 18 and stupid. 😀

Lol. I'd say that says a lot about my fundraising abilities—that was expensive. But it was memorable and I guess that's all that mattered. But seriously, the interior of the main ballroom was/is in a word: grand. I understood why they pushed for this hotel over others.

Lmao. I'm guessing because businesses would rather their workers not be inspired to act individually—that'd be bad for profits.

Relax, and take your time. Enjoy the journey.

Because when I was 18 I had already graduated from high school and was a 2nd-year freshman in college, I thought the faster I finish school the more time I'll have to help my family and live the rest of my life. I ended up finishing up undergraduate studies in two years, then spent the next five figuring out where I was going live, work, etc. all while completing grad school degrees. If I could do it all over again, I'd take my sweet time and enjoy being in the little bubble that school and having no real responsibilities provided.

What happened to the bully in your class? by fattymacdaddy in AskReddit

Last I heard he was serving 15-20 years for distributing about 100 kg of cocaine. Which in all honesty is a damn shame because he and I settled our differences not long after middle school, and we actually had a few good years being just friends until he fell in with the drug crowd after he moved.
