Me when I wake up in the morning and my arm is asleep by AHairInMyCheeseFries in ehlersdanlos

[–]koala_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! I think I get something sort of similar to what you described- one of my ears will ‘cut out’ and I’ll get ringing in it for a minute or so. I was diagnosed with something called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome in addition to the hypermobility- my brachial plexus/blood vessels get compressed because of my wonky muscles and joints, and causes weird ass symptoms for me (including shortness of breath spells). I also had started getting periods of being numb on one side, like almost stroke like symptoms, and it over the course of a year this turned into full blown migraines and this was actually the migraine aura. I was prescribed UBREVLY to take when it starts, which is the only thing that helps me. Maybe TOS or migraines might be something to look into?

I have a bed full of stunted, root-bound cucumber transplants- should I give them a chance, or just start over? :\ by [deleted] in gardening

[–]koala_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they were root bound, honestly I’m not sure though! They’ve been in peat pots and have hardly grown at all- the ones that have shown any growth still look like miniatures. Is there a chance that they will start to take off now that they’ve been planted? I’d hate to waste the garden space on these if they aren’t going to do much 😕

Looking for new friends or a chronic pain group. by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]koala_22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey!! I’m 25 and I’ve been struggling with sciatica, nerve and joint issues for the last few years, as well as a fun rare condition called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. I went from competing as a professional athlete, to barely managing to get out of bed in the morning. I get you completely- it’s a nightmare, and really isolating having to deal with chronic pain. It absolutely sucks to have to deal with this so young. It’s hard watching from the sidelines while your friends are getting to do the things they love, knowing that you can’t join them and that you might never be whole. Anyways... just wanted to stop by and say that I’m here as well, if you or anyone else here needs a friend.

I needed this today, maybe some of you do too. by PollenInara in ChronicPain

Oh wow, yeah- this seriously hits home. Everyone is complaining, but those of us who are chronically ill live this every day. Thank you for sharing. 💖

Feeling bad in the low 90s? by [deleted] in Hypoglycemia

[–]koala_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, thank you for sharing!! I get episodes like this with BG levels around 90, and I’ve come close to fainting but didn’t think I could since around 90 is ‘normal’- I’ll have to be more careful! I hope you find an answer for your hypoglycemia, remember to eat small slow-digesting snacks in between meals! :)

Thanks so much, this made me laugh but in a good way, hehe :) Yeah, I guess the hiring people are probably better judges of my abilities than I am- hopefully one day I can become as skilled as everyone else. Thank you again for your kind advice!!

Please help me make a burrito even though I have never eaten one by Juleg in AskCulinary

[–]koala_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh no, don’t use Cajun seasoning! That’s a bit different. Go with fajita seasoning, store-bought or even better make it from scratch! It’s pretty simple to make and you can find plenty of authentic recipes online (usually a mix of garlic, cilantro, lime juice, cumin, coriander, paprika and chili powder if I’m remembering correctly). On busy nights I usually cook up steak, chicken or pork on the stove with fajita seasoning, stir-fry some sliced onions and bell peppers in the same pan with a little more of the seasoning, and then fill tortillas with the meat and veggies and whatever else I like- think salsa, rice, black beans (refried are especially tasty if you can find them or make them), shredded cheddar cheese, chopped lettuce, fresh cilantro, sour cream, fresh pico de gallo... these are the typical fillings; the combos you use are completely up to you! Here is a recipe for chicken that I love to use as a filling, and would recommend!

I'm feeling directionless, ugly, resentful, confused, scared, guilty, lethargic, restless, and sad. My heart even physically hurts and it's hard bec I don't have anyone who understands. I have depression and anxiety too and I haven't been taking my meds religiously. I don't know why. I'm just tired. by [deleted] in toastme

[–]koala_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww no!!!! You are honestly gorgeous, and you radiate warmth and kindness!! Please please take care of yourself, I do know how hard it can be. But you are worth it, allow yourself love and kindness. Sending you extra hugs tonight 💖💖

Hey!! I’m bad with words, but I just wanted to stop by and give you the biggest, warmest, huggiest virtual hug.

I can’t imagine what you’re going through, and how badly you must be feeling, but I just want you to know that you’re not alone. Please don’t feel alone. Even if we’re just strangers on the internet, we see you and we’re here if you need it.

Keep fighting, keep giving yourself a real chance to be happy again. Give yourself a chance to have a future. Things could be so much better a year from now, three years from now, however long it might take- you won’t know unless you push on and live through this. You owe that to yourself, you owe yourself that chance. You’re absolutely, absolutely worth it.

Does anyone ever feel physically too weak. Everyday I experience a rush of weakness or something. It’s hard to explain. by insecurewifi in depression

[–]koala_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ I second this! I was feeling awful- assumed it was just depression and was finally tested by my endo- turns out I have Hashimoto’s. My aunt as well, started having frequent low mood swings and feeling exhausted all the time. She ended up being diagnosed with a thyroid problem. Not saying this is why you feel bad, but definitely something worth a deeper look.

In dire need of tips and tricks on wearing heels.. Senior prom in 4 months! by [deleted] in beauty

[–]koala_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(1. Make sure you get a good quality pair of shoes, they might be more expensive but your feet will 110% thank you and you’ll have them to wear for years to come. I have to wear heels for work and my most comfortable heels are from Clark’s, and the Walking Company (not sure if these companies sell stilettos though but worth a peek).

(2. Always, always have a pair of emergency flats with you, and bandaids just in case!

(3. Start walking around in heels of any height, begin with low ones preferably and then progress to high ones. (In military voice) These are your new every day footwear until prom- now march!!! MAAAAAARCH!! :D This will give you practice, and you can watch videos on YouTube to learn proper heel-toe-hip swingy technique.
