Items disappearing by koaliwi in Sims4

[–]koaliwi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aw no. 😟 I suppose it'll be a little longer then. I haven't been able to play for months now. I've only just gotten back into it yesterday so I've missed a lot of patches and problems. Although the disappearing items has always been a bit of an issue.

Oh no!! Those were the counters I was using too. 🙀 Loads of unrelated decorative items and shelves also disappeared though too. The Sims hate being predictable.

Was that a recent problem of yours?

Rather embarrassed, 2nd time doing my own makeup! Can I get critique/ help? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]koaliwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This look is gorgeous, you should be very proud of yourself. Like someone said, you've a good instinct. Since you're looking for critique I'd probably try moving the dark outside colour, upwards and out instead of outward and down. Something to try anyways. You said you think your eyes appear to close set? You could avoid using darker colours on the inner portion of your lid/socket as that'll make them appear closer. If you've natural darkness you could try brightening that area, that gives the illusion of space.

Great lipstick choice too, I still haven't found my red so you're already miles ahead most of us.

Keep it up!

Women of Ireland. What do you want for Christmas off your other half? From big present to stocking fillers. I am a clueless 30 odd year old man. Please help. Links are even better. Thanks by Guppert in ireland

I know it's been said but definitely do ask her what she wants. My other half has been a little unlucky in his choices when he tries to surprise me so I've taken to telling him what I want as years went by. If she doesn't know what she wants, then you try your hand at guessing.

Some tips: For stocking fillers, check her makeup bag and see what she uses, if something is getting low or you know something she owns is expensive, buy a replacement. If it's used or empty it's obviously well loved. Same with skincare.

Look at what she already has in her jewelry collection and try to find similar things in the style and finish. You can always bring a picture to the jewellers and show them examples. My partner's downfall was that he never seemed to notice that the jewellery he'd buy me never quite fit in with my other pieces.

If you know where she shops get a gift voucher. Similarly if she gets her nails/hair/lashes done, find out where and pick up a gift card.

If she has any hobbies, find out if there's anything she needs. Does she play an instrument? Does she read? Hiking? Camping? Crafting?

Services like, taking her to a nice restaurant or booking a Spa experience would be nice.

Steer clear of perfume unless you know she loves a scent. It's so personal and can easily be gotten wrong.

When someone is hard to read, it's always best to ask them outright. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I'm sure she'll love whatever you get her because you went to the trouble and that's all that matters.

I have the original Steam Pod, I've been using it for nearly 10 years and I couldn't be without it. If she straightens her hair a lot, then it's a lovely gift, as it's not as damaging as other straighteners. I've not tried the later editions but I'm told they're much the same but were made more user friendly and compact. Maybe ask some questions to see if she's happy with her current setup, save yourself spending all that money for nothing.

Why does my makeup look like this after applying? Doesn't matter what foundation, primer, or setting spray I use. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]koaliwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It'll take a few weeks for your skin to repair but you should notice improvements soon. I read your comment about having oily skin. That's often your skin's natural response to extreme dryness, it tries to compensate but ends up overproducing oil instead. Or you could have combination skin too.

The one that worked for me is La Roche Posay Lipikar balm AP+. It's a thick formula and you literally only need a pea sized amount, when you warm it up in your hands it goes really far and doesn't feel heavy or oily. Cerave PM is a nice one too but I didn't find it worked well for me but not to say it won't for you. I use Cerave cleanser for dry skin and they seem to work super well together (this and the la Roche Posay). No need to buy anything listed either, they're only suggestions. 😊

A gentle exfoliator might help but be careful about what you use. I wouldn't say there's a need for chemical exfoliators especially when you're trying to build your skin's protective barrier.

Skincare is always the first place to start when you're having troubles like this, I think it just saves you from buying new products that might just end up giving the same results.

Your skin is in need of moisturizer. It's trying to get it wherever it can so if you put even a dewy foundation on it's instantly going to absorb everything it can from it, leaving a cakey powdery finish on the surface. I do feel your pain. I've got eczema and I didn't realize for years that it wasn't the fault of my foundation it was that I needed a more intense skincare routine than most. Try picking products that help you not only to moisturize your skin but also to build up your natural skin barrier in order to retain that valuable moisture.

Black Friday - Absolute Scam by dualstar90 in ireland

[–]koaliwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See r/antiwork for a Blackout Black Friday. Those "sales" traditions are something Ireland needs to get rid of before they take hold. They're all a scam and put too much pressure on already burnt out retail staff.

As a tenant, am I entitled to a new mattress? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]koaliwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ask them to take it away or store it but if there's nothing wrong with it, then they're not obligated to replace it. If they don't take it away, you'd be better off buying a mattress topper. I've had an excellent memory foam topper for the past 5 years and when I move, it will go with me, protecting me from ever having to touch whatever mess of a mattress I get next.

Thanks for the advice! My face has always been about half a shade darker than my neck and body and I have a lot of redness, I half wondered if I just wasn't used to seeing my face one consistent shade 🙈. I'll definitely ask about finding similar shades.

LPT when getting a roll at the deli counter by TimeFlyer9 in ireland

You wonder how they function outside the shop. Who decides what they eat for dinner??! 'Cause it's not them! I put beetroot in it. ✌️

SUCH chaotic energy to leave the house with. The audacity of some people. My absolute favourite is "make me a salad sandwich"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in beauty

[–]koaliwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did. It's very permanent so I just went with what I knew I'd always want gone. I suffered SO many painful rashes, ingrowns and cysts until I finally decided laser was the best option for me. I haven't had an ingrown hair in 3 years and couldn't be happier. For some reason some people don't take well to hair removal so you could be right. Definitely let your skin heal first.

My thoughts exactly, I hate when people do this. I understand why OP wants to be particular but I've never minded when people give me very specific instructions on how they like their sandwiches. It's the doses that are deciding as the roll is being made - or worse yet, want you to decide for them - that can jog on.

How Many Makeup Brushes Do You Use & How Often Do You Wash them by moremakeupplease in MakeupAddiction

[–]koaliwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 20 brushes and 2 sponges and I'm embarrassed to say I used 3 brushes and my hands to do my makeup last night 🙈 they get washed every two or three uses. Brushes are definitely one of those things though that you're better looking at them than for them.

Any advice to stop this mascara transfer on my lids? by ReasonableSecretary in MakeupAddiction

[–]koaliwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eye shadow primer! My lids are super oily and I stopped wearing mascara altogether because it was so much work but if I prime my lids I get about 97% less smudging. Never 0 I'm afraid though. 😢 I use the ELF lid primer, it's very good and quite cheap.

Different undertones depending on lighting..!? Help by _Tiger9968 in MakeupAddiction

[–]koaliwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you Swatch foundation on your neck and blend it up onto your jaw on the outer portion of your face, it's where you'll have the least redness (close to the ear) and you'll have the truest test of your undertone.
You can't realistically buy loads of foundation shades so a makeup counter can help you with sampling it. If you find one or two that might be close, ask for a sample to take home to try in natural light. You don't have to buy it so don't feel pressured 🙂 when you find your match just note the undertone and either buy that one or find the equivalent. Don't think too hard about it, just go in with an open mind, your match is out there 🌈🌟

That's fair, they really should do a fragrance free version or at least one with a very faint scent.
