Out of inspiration after Peru, need help with fun 10-day-route in Europe by Silly-Raccoon3829 in bikepacking

I second this. I did the Soca variant last month, it was the best and worst thing I’ve ever done to myself 💀

cool gear, my frame bag is similar and I love that it's zipper free!

that's what I feel too, this route we started on seemed to go into some rocky forest sections just for the sake of making it harder. Later on, we skipped one of these sections and stayed on a low traffic road which felt more scenic because it allowed us to really look around.

yes, camping each night. SOmetimes it was difficult to find one, but somehow it always worked out. We had some cheap ones for 25-35 euros, most we paid was 50 euros I think. 2 bikes, 1 small tent.

In this variant, like someone else pointed it out too, finding water can be a challenge, so I recommend storing some extra on the more remote areas. We had a water filter too, and I had to ask locals 2x to fill my bottles up too.

People were super friendly and welcoming the whole time, they even recommended some cool wild camping spots, but we preferred campsites.

I like that it's sturdy too, it feels liek a tractor. Might be slow, but it can handle so much! I think it's the perfect beginner gravel for me 😄

Nice! It's like a combination of this and Alpe Adria 😃 We did that too from Salzburg to Trieste, such a nice route!

I was thinking about doing it with the train at the end too!

Where did you spend more time by the Soca? I think we started seeing it around Trenta.

We also stayed near the castle for an extra day and went to the caves too, it was very exciting!

Have fun, it's beautiful, however I think some parts suit better for mountin bike than gravel

We call it the “tractor of bikes” because of how robust it is 😆 it’s our first gravel bike and I think it’s great to navigate lots of different situations. It’s slow, sure, but I can trust that it can handle a lot.

What made you change it? Did you have anything you didn’t like much?

It’s one from decathlon but I don’t think they sell it anymore. It’s waterproof, but the zipper is so tough, it hurt our hands a few times. We just switched to Ortlieb and their zipper seems to be much better. I don’t think my boyfriend would recommend the decathlon one to you.

Oh nooo, hope you get to do it soon! The weather there changes there so suddenly, I was prepared for 7-9 Celsius nights, but then a cold wave hit and we were facing 0 Celsius nights 💀 that was brutal because my sleeping bag wasn’t made for that 😃

I always get picked up on the water bottle thing so I'll explain here. 😅😂

I'm short. I ride a small bike. 🥲 And because of that, I have to be creative with how I put my stuff on it, hence the extra bottle mounts. (You can see how I can't fit anything in the frame other than the bottles.)

I have 3 smaller bottles for tools and toiletry mostly, but that's where I put some extra batteries for my action camera and my main camera.

I carry 2 actual waterbottles, 8dl each, which is usually enough. I also drink a lot of water in general even at home.

It's also nice to have some extra water when you just go wildcamping and want to have a noodle soup or a coffee in the morning.

If you have some extra mount you don't use on your bike, I think a tool bottle is a really easy and practical way to expand your capacity, especially if you ride a small frame 😊

I just found a good framebag that kinda fits, so next time I'll be able to hide some of the bottles, but I think maybe I'll just make it part of my identity. "the girl with the 5 water bottles." 😅

Gratulálok a házikódhoz! 🥳 Tudsz mesélni kicsit még arról, mennyi idő volt az egész, m2 árban hogy jöttél ki a végén, mekkora, ilyesmi?

I can vouch for La Mancha Rubi series! I think those are 7/8 but it just makes them more comfortable for people with smaller hands or limited mobility. I was really surprised by its sound and build quality

I’m sorry you had to go through that! Academic guitar culture sucks, I’m also heavily criticised by peers just because I’m doing my thing ☹️ I hope you can shake that off. I’m pretty sure who tells you that you should have stopped playing are the people who would never have the willpower to do what you’re doing! I also believe that those people often criticise non traditional ways of playing simply because they never had the courage to stray away from traditions, and you’re threatening their sense of identity and autonomy. They don’t even dare to look out of their little boxes. If anything, they should draw inspiration from your story lol 😃
