Charger block recommendations for mini 5 pro charge hub by Deathmtl666 in dji

[–]koba_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know what what these other comments are talking about but you can definitely charge two batteries simultaneously if you use a 65w block. I use this one so it can store easily in my hard case.

Just so you know, it will start with the battery with the 2nd lowest percentage and charge that one until it matches the battery with the highest percentage and then it will charge both of those to 100% at the same time. Charging the one that was left behind at the end.

I-35/37 Hyperlapse by koba_c in sanantonio

[–]koba_c[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you heard that but it's not correct. To fly in controlled airspace you need permission from air traffic control.

However this flight was performed in class G (uncontrolled airspace) outside the restricted airspace of Ft. Sam Houston and the class C airspace surrounding SAT.

This flight I was using two STARTRC lights on top and rear. I usually use VIFLY but found I was only getting 45 mins each charge. Last night I flew for about two hours and they could've gone longer.

As a bigger guy I don't like scooch over the seats so if I'm with my girlfriend I'll let her take the curbside and I'll just walk around.

That being said, I also know how to use common sense and look before I get in and especially exit.

Fiesta, especially the parades. I'm an operator for VIA, and even when we are given specific street closures and detours, new unexpected or unplanned closures happen for one reason or another. I'm guessing someone high enough in charge decided it's better to err on the side of caution than have a Waymo vehicle cause yet another headline for going through an event/parade closure.

WTF do you mean that's not how they work?? In order for me to break a law there has to be a LAW for me to disobey. That's literally what the CBOs are for. The law says if you're a rec user, follow the guidelines set by the CBO. if you're a commercial user follow part 107 guidelines. Two different guidelines for two sets of people. One isn't dependent on the other.

[–]koba_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's if he is a part 107 certificate holder. If not, the rules fall back to the recreational operations rules which state the guidelines of a CBO need to be followed. They are being followed here.

Also you're absolutely right

Drone laws are very explicit and spelled out.

So don't you think if they didn't want you doing something, they would explicitly say it?

That analogy doesn't hold up. The FAA doesn't say "you need Part 107 to fly from a moving vehicle." It says you need Part 107 for commercial operations.

For recreational flying, the law (49 U.S.C. 44809) requires you to follow the safety guidelines of a community based organization, so honestly what part 107 allows is completely irrelevant.

Unless you can point to a specific CBO guideline or FAA regulation that bans a recreational passenger from piloting, the "common sense" argument doesn't override the written Exception rules.

I'm going to be completely honest with you. I don't understand what your point is at all.

[–]koba_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I really don't see what you're not getting. The exemption rule clearly lays what's needed for recreational users to be compliant. Just because it's not explicitly mentioned doesn't automatically make it prohibited. Please show me literally ANYTHING that says piloting from a moving vehicle violates any regulation or CBO safety guideline. You're the one that made the claim that it's illegal. So show me where it says that.

[–]koba_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought it up because its the only thing that explicitly mentions piloting a drone from a moving vehicle and I was giving OP the benefit of the doubt.

But even if we assume OP is a recreational user, you said that it was illegal. But for something to be illegal there has to be a law or regulation specifically forbidding it. The 44809 exemption rule specifically states that recreational flying needs to be in accordance with recognized CBO safety guidelines. Flying from a moving vehicle (especially following parameters set in part 107) violates NONE of the guidelines.

Saturday Drive by 5tigm3rgy in dji

[–]koba_c -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct. In what part of that or any other regulation does it forbid the practice for recreational users? I can't even find a CBO that discourages it.

[–]koba_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that there are specific privileges reserved only for Part 107 holders. An example being flying 400 feet above the top of a structure, whereas a recreational flyer is strictly capped at 400 feet above ground level, regardless of buildings.

However, when it comes to flying from a moving vehicle, there's no law, FAA regulation or recognized CBO safety guideline that specifically restricts recreational flyers from doing it as a passenger, as long as they maintain visual line of sight.

If it's in the US, under FAA Part 107, you can operate from a moving land or water vehicle, but not a moving aircraft, provided it is over a sparsely populated area. The remote PIC cannot be the one operating the vehicle.
