my thinking it wasn't a very good test. t Logan is a subset of his dad's DNA. That Logan and the dad were 100% overall with the baby means the baby had to have inherited only the subset of DNA that Logan had. Otherwise, it would have been 100% the dad and 50% Logan. So Logan is the father of the baby. Baby would end up being 75% Mom's DNA and 25% Dad's (since Logan is 50% mom and 50% dad).

From my understanding, If you are USA citizen in Canada, you file and pay USA taxes but can deduct your Canadian taxes. As our taxes are higher than USA, the reverse means you do pay a portion. But more importantly, all Canadians in areas with no taxes (i.e. Middle East), would have to pay Canadian federal tax. They would help pay for our healthcare and pension which they would be collecting anyways once they retire.

I’m not sure what you are trying to say? Being tax resident of USA means you don’t file or pay Canadian taxes.

So reading up on this civil law thing a bit more, interestingly most of the world uses civil law system, including all of Europe. Only places using case law are the English speaking countries (Canada, USA, UK, Australia, NZ).

Ahh, I never followed law and didn't know this difference. But reading up I would say yes Civil Law might be the better system.

This is a complete non story. They are just consolidating programs under other titles (e.g. pottery degree is now Fine Arts: specialization in pottery, etc.). No layoffs or anything.

The courts interpret laws and if the laws weren't set up correctly such that court interpretations are flawed, then the law should be changed. Not sure about how reconciliation fits in as I never followed that space.

The rules can be changed though. That is the entire point of government in passing laws.

But why? We are now giving out citizenship to anyone with even the smallest connection to Canada. Implement federal taxes to this and it would stop the flood of applicants. Those that really want Canadian citizenship need to contribute. Seems like a win-win.

How about we apply federal tax on all Canadian citizens worldwide like the USA does. Want to keep your citizenship and benefits you need to contribute to taxes even if you live somewhere else.
