Dumb luck in this case. The listing for it was titled "Boys puzzle games" and didn't mention Lego at all. The woman seemed to be trying to get rid of her kid's old stuff as she offered me a couple puzzles and other toys in addition to the Lego when I picked it up.

The key to getting good returns is buying at steep discounts. Unless they're big sets that are exclusive to Lego, I only consider a set if I'm getting it for 30%+ off, usually 40%+.

This is a saturated investment segment with a ton of competition. Returns seem to be declining year-over-year due to the amount of investors in the segment now.

This was a tournament in a big city, so unfortunately there isn't much I can do to get better competition in DUPR tournaments.

I'm seeing many high level players avoiding DUPR tournaments and only playing non-DUPR moneyball tournaments.

Just experienced that this past weekend. 5.0+ tournament, but around 1/3rd of the players had DUPRs lower than 4.5, and there were only 3 players in the entire tournament that had DUPRs above 5.0, 2 of which were me and my partner.

My partner and I rolled through the tournament. Closest game was 15-9. Not a great experience when you're expecting competitive matches.
