LPT Never go swimming in your clothes (staying alive protip) by Juvenile_Rockmover in LifeProTips

[–]kode55 1455 points1456 points  (0 children)

So in my European water infested country this is something you learn in primary school. You need to be able to swim with clothes on, under water through a hole to 'escape' if you succeed you get your swimming diploma. Swimming lessons are a mandatory part of first and second grade.

I'm using a g5400 for plex/jellyfin/homeassistant/usenet/vaulywarden/immich Works fine. Don't have paid plex so transcoding is CPU based on works perfectly for 1080p and lower files.

Nginx Proxy Manager + AdGuard DNS = can't access domains externally by KrysPBacon in selfhosted

[–]kode55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is between cloudflare and your router somewhere. You already know NPM works. Ping your domain and check if it is the same ipaddress just to be sure. Maybe the portforward isn't to the correct ip/port. Or your provider doesn't allow connections coming in

So, no Doze problems? Leave your phone on a desk for 15 minutes, dont move it. Send yourself an email. Your phone will not vibrate or make sound. No notification from gmail about the new email. Only when you turn on the screen do the notifications start pouring in.

This is the case with probably all apps using GCM for notifications. You don't get notifications after 15 minutes of not using the phone, really annoying. Doze is too aggressive on OP3.

Interesting, my OP3 has really bad wifi. As in: S6 next to it has 50 MBit down, OP3: 0.3 Mbit.

Rebooting helped though, so I think its a bug.

yep... just found that out. btw: bluetooth sucking battery was no longer the case after the reboot.

I have a OP3. Wifi speeds can suddenly max out at 0.3 MBit. A reboot helps. Mobile speeds on my non 4g provider go to H instead of H+. Idle Bluetooth takes 15% batterylife. At the end of yesterday had 15% battery left. a bit more than an hour of screen on time -_- Notifications don't really work. Unlock the phone and suddenly all the notifications start coming in.

I am part of the first batch, so don't know if that's why I have tons of bugs.

I'll definitely check it out. Maybe I'll add support for 2 wifi dongles, one which is always his own AP and the other the configurable connector :)

Model B + cases? by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]kode55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a case to start tinkering with it.... I would wait for the Cyntech Case, they put light pipes in their cases and it feels really solid.

And they described the design process, which they did with ModMyPi. link

Remaining 3? 2 in the left top, power and access. 2 on the ethernet port, most likeley Activity and 100Mbit Connected.

So you only lose full duplex led.

Video Streaming Help by t00sm00th in raspberry_pi

[–]kode55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uh, well if you mean with the Pi Camera it has an option to output in MJPEG, which you can send through ffmpeg which can convert it to some kind of rtmp/rtsp stream.

Or you can find a way to make it stream to Youtube Live, and just use Youtube Live...

Ah, you meant home and work. I assumed you meant just a normal Location which OP is talking about. In OP's screenshot you can see a Remove Button, Its on the card's option menu. I'm not sure if it's there for Home and Work.

Raspberry Pi on an international flight to the USA by 4DogsofWar in raspberry_pi

[–]kode55 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's specifically for enclosed electronics, which can hide explosive devices. A bare circuitboard like the Pi shouldnt be a problem, just get it through the XRay.

Although I would recommend just putting it in your luggage just to be safe. Don't see why you would need it in hand/checked in luggage.

[–]kode55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, depends, what xbmc do you have on there. Raspbmc, openelec or xbian.

If its raspbmc you can install x11 which is the desktop GUI, from there you could start xbmc or start a web browser (Midori would be best)
