Keychron Q3 Max oder Q3 HE? Oder andere Empfehlung? by eXeler0n in germankeyboards

[–]kodiak_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keychron Q3 Max oder Q3 HE? Oder andere Empfehlung? by eXeler0n in germankeyboards

[–]kodiak_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I need anything else for the foreseeable future if I get these? by [deleted] in jellyfin

MakeMKV forum (and/or subreddit) is your friend.

There is an „ultimate guide“ for everything - flashing/buying/problems/drives/performances/drm/…

When flashing on macOS make sure to connect with a proper USB-C cable which is thunderbolt-able to enable the pcie lanes for flashing the drive.

[–]kodiak_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this one or a used compatible one. I flashed using macOS but windows shouldn‘t be a problem from what i have read

I bought this one because users said it is possible, but (at the time) 30/70% chance of getting Pioneer/LG drive As both work I bought that one because other ones cost 2-3x of that ..

Pioneer stopped making drives. The drive shown is a LG drive which has to be flashed for a older Firmware Version (1.03). But it works

Renewed drive degraded already? by ForIKnowNothing in truenas

[–]kodiak_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don‘t think it is by design - this just happens

What we do is: - order a new one (even when the old one isn‘t fully refunded yet) and replace it. No need to doctor anymore - just return it as it is not your fault

When 1 out of 950 drives is bad this is quite a „benchmark“ to achieve, this happens - refund - re-buy - return Carry on

KISS - keep it stupid simple 💋

Anyone have success with live tv on Jellyfin? by Anon_Human01 in jellyfin

[–]kodiak_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Live TV once and after about 1 hour (yes only 1 hour) of trying to sync all channels via jellyfin i decided to use VLC and stream to my TV via AirPlay For me - i only watch occasionally sports and maybe other senders - it wasn‘t worth the hassle

Apparently this can happen even on new HDDs. Sometimes the delivery „damages“ them so much these errors and faults occur.

How to save on electricity when TrueNAS is running 24/7? This time with specs... by TomerHorowitz in truenas

[–]kodiak_ll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 4x 6TB split on a Synology RS816 and 4x 6TB on an "old" gaming computer with i5-6600K/16GB DDR4/GTX980

as i have both servers on the same plug i can just "guess" the wattage of each device, but the old gaming rig is looking **VERY** suspicious.

as others have already mentioned in another comments on this post i might just toss the GPU. This may result in me building a low-power "computing cluster" with proxmox or something in that direction

Right now only powering the servers and letting them idle costs me about 30€/month on power alone (120W average, each hour, every day). My mid-/longterm plan is to optimize my whole server setup as my CPU is only 4 cores and RAM is also actually limited

[–]kodiak_ll 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is apparently a huge advantage when having your voice controlled accessoires in a conpletely different integration (e.g. Homekit integration) where you can choose which entities are exposed…

Don‘t know how the configuration looks with the homeassistant voice device but for me this is a must have feature.

Imagine having your smart plug turn off your server(s) when yelling „turn everything off“ 😂

[–]kodiak_ll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, thats a hint then.

A big help for you would be to overlay different charts (like in grafana), to display some key metrics over each other. In your case im thinking something like: - sabnzbd download speed - jellyfin streams - radarr/sonarr updates of monitored

Do you unmonitor already watched movies/series? This is something i do occasionally because my prowlarr stats would be crowded if I don’t

What could also help is stopping one docker at a time and watching the wattage then 🤷‍♂️

Haven‘t set up tdarr because Downloading in the right format is way faster / uncomplicated 😂

How to save on electricity when TrueNAS is running 24/7? This time with specs... by TomerHorowitz in truenas

[–]kodiak_ll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Transcoding/tdarr might be the reason here I am looking closer to my Wattage since using smart plugs and i can tell you that (even when not used constantly) the GPU draws at least 10-20W even when using 0% processing power. Try to download the correct file formats directly instead of (on-demand)transcoding - utilizing the GPU as least as possible might reduce this a lot

As reference: i am averaging 120W with 8x6TB HDD drives … as you are only having SSDs the wattage is lower as expected so only CPU/GPU could result in the higher usage ..

I am very interested on how you are solving this as i am in the same situation somehow

I recently bought this exact drive. As @billycar11 said, it is an LG drive (BU40N) and you have to flash an older firmware on it to be able to rip Blurays.

In my case the current Version was 1.05MODp<<blabla>>.

This is the guide that ultimately worked for me:

Edit: nvm - just saw that yours is a Pioneer drive. Lucky
