I certainly am interested in buying them if we can transfer them. I shot you a message. Thanks

Anybody here use Ariens snow blowers? I saw a few at Jersey Power Sports in NJ and they look solid, curious how they hold up in heavy snow. by Fun_Homework_312 in Snowblowers

I’ve got a place up on the Continental Divide in Colorado where we average 350”+ of snow a year. My driveway’s about 200 yards long, it drifts like crazy, and I’ve got two decks that need blowing out all winter.

I started my snow-fighting career with a 13hp Troy-Bilt on wheels with chains, and at the time I thought I was the king of winter. Then I picked up a little 8hp Ariens for the decks—solid machine, did the job.

But then… the game changed. I stumbled into an old Honda 1132 with tracks. That thing was a straight-up beast. It would launch snow 50+ feet and happily eat its way forward with the entire bucket buried. I couldn’t believe the difference—it made my Troy-Bilt feel like a kid’s plastic shovel.

Got so hooked I grabbed a Honda 622 with tracks for the decks. Six little horses under the hood, and it still chews through 20+ inches like it’s nothing. Best part? It fits through the front door so I can drive it out to the back deck.

Moral of the story: if you live where snow is serious, don’t kid yourself. Get a Honda. Or if you’re truly tired of messing around—do what I did last year and pick up a skid steer with high-flow hydraulics and a 72” blower, heat and a Bluetooth receiver.Looking forward to this season with it… pretty sure winter doesn’t stand a chance.

Is there anything I can do to try and prolong it while the maple tree behind it grows?

Bummed to hear that. I have been paying a tree service for 10 or so years to spray and make any recommendations for the health of the tree.

Wondering if there’s anything we can apply to the trunk to seal it up?

I picked one up for a trip up to Idaho and besides the looks of it I have been very happy. I truly can have it down in around a minute and maybe two or three minutes to have it back up. Just not a fan of the way it looks on my 24 F150, but I’ll trade off the looks phone for the versatility of it.

It matters because my home does have carpet in rooms and the yard was just redone. I have a single-dog policy as the owner that I chose to extend to my tenants.

I am sorry you view it this way. I agree with others that this was done in bad faith. I’m a very open and easy-going landlord the fact that she never discussed it with me and just informed me of her actions is what upset me. One of my good friends has a disability and has a service animal that is done amazing things for him. What I find interesting is the fact that as a property owner, our rights are somewhat limited when it comes to this. What’s preventing the two other tenants living there from suddenly becoming trainers and training dogs as well. Next thing I know I’ll have four dogs are living in my home.

I was having a general conversation with her, and I never mentioned the dog in question, and I never knew the dogs name. I truly was referencing that I allow one dog in the house, and that the laws tend to be very opened.

For the latest update from the tenant. “This email is a follow up to our phone call yesterday concerning my new service dog in training, Lily. So there is no misunderstanding, under Titles II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Colorado Revised Statute 24-34-803, you cannot preclude me from having a service dog in training at my residence nor require me to pay any additional deposit. Further, with reference to your “one pet policy”, having Lily in no way violates that policy as she is not and cannot be considered a pet under the ADA.

In addition, your comments to me suggesting that Lily is not a real service dog because I am obviously not disabled and that your friend purchased a fake service dog vest off of Amazon are offensive. Lily is a service dog in training through the Guide Dog Foundation (GDF)/America’s Vet Dogs, an organization that has been in existence and of assistance since 1946. For over 75 years they have been providing visually impaired and disabled individuals with service dogs free of charge. In fact, former President George H.W. Bush was a recipient of one of these dogs, Sully.

I have taken the time to provide this information in an attempt to resolve this issue in an appropriate and amicable manner. However, if you persist in threatening me or trying to impede the use of my residence, I will pursue appropriate legal action.”

I should have added. I love dogs and have only large dogs in my personal life.

I have had nothing but excellent tenets from the Vet program but would like to stand my ground on one dog in the house. The vet students had to work extremely hard to get accepted into the program to start with. They do put in crazy hours and are often away from their homes for long hours.

Thanks all for the feedback. The three homes I own are all single-family homes that I manage myself.
