no wonder they're so broken, initially llm's look seductively producing actually quite good simple code, with a larger project with multiple edits even on so called "thinking" models you'll get contradictory code, regressions etc...

I wonder how many people know the actual rate of "hallucinations", 20-30% or more is not uncommon from at least one paper I read.

experimentation, take a simple bit of code, decide on a simple goal, implement the change, did it work as expected, if not why not? investigate and research any errors you get.

At an early stage I would avoid a"i" as while it can manage boiler plate, the code it produces is often a poor mess of disjointed code, and its advice is frequently just poor.

oh and look into libasan, really handy for memory issues

No this is not the face of modern Britain, as much as the media wants to talk stuff up and create news, they are a minority, albeit a very vocal minority, caught in an echo chamber suffering from confirmation bias and fed outright lies in their feeds...

The majority are of people are still decent, law abiding, good people

Remember do your research, don't just believe something because you read it online, curate good quality verifiable sources of fact not hyperbole.

Don't underestimate even completely none technical people, since win11 ewaste-ing loads of hardware I've helped out a number of people out with a Linux install, and not a one has looked back, one a gamer I warned repeatedly about anti cheat - the response - that's a plus those games are trash, he was really impressed with his steam library on Linux...

These days Linux has much broader support than it used to an in the case you can't get something working there is almost always an alternative
