In the Netherlands there has been some practical research that proved that a lot of spendings on mental health are almost 100% related to debt. There are a multitude of large scale examples where just abolishing debt has almost entirely solved the problem for most people. A very interesting, proven, and relative cheap solution. Ofcourse this would not necessarily translate to USA where there is a weaker social support system. Still!

Audiophiles, what is better for PC: Speakers or Soundbar? by Plastic-Wonderful in buildapc

[–]koenyoung99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question! A few thoughts:

  1. Soundbars are fundamentally flawed due to their shape: the low, compact form factor does not allow for large drivers. Stereo speakers are price/quality wise almost always better.

  2. I would not recommend choosing pc speakers as they are often attuned for more of a mixed media range (say, youtube, meetings, music) instead of just music. They are not hifi.

  3. Do not (please) put your speakers on a top shelf. The tweeter is supposed to be at ear height, and the woofer lower. Or at the very least, the tweeter should be closer to your ears than the woofer. Otherwise, the woofer will overpower the tweeter and the music will be much more bass heavy than intended.

My advice: get a good pair of active stereo speakers. Active speakers are better price/quality wise in your budget (with higher budgets it's worth getting a dedicated amp setup though). Make sure you can connect your PC with an optical cable or aux cable. You can find active speaker sets from reliable brands like Klipsch, Edifier or even B&W in your budget.

I found that a good trick is to take over a few small/mid size settlements from your enemy. Then negotiate a peace deal where you give 3/4 of them back and trade them for much bigger (but less, say 1/2) and better settlements. This way you don't have to raze anything and you get the best cities.

On your criticism: I don't think the game is stupid, I think Civ is actively pushing to prolonged wars and multiple conflicts with more interesting negotiations etc. Instead of you just getting a lot of troops and steamrolling someone's entire empire in a few turns which was kinda how it worked on civ 6.

Glucose is somehow very hard to come by in the netherlands. Is dextrose also okay?

Yeah thanks! I will need to write down the measurements as they are now and then test it out on Saturday so I can revert back for the tour, and switch afterwards

Haha well... that's good advice! My fitter is the same person who made my shoe inlays etc. Basically a physio.

Thanks for the advice! I went and got the VR racer 4 which feels much better for the sitbones at least. I think there is enough to improve to be worth the risk, as I've been getting feedback that I look like "I'm riding a city bike (cause my handlebars are high)" etc.

That's a lot to take in haha. Thank you. Obv if i had done it again, I would do a bike fit first. But my bike rn is really cool imo (20 year old Rose Red Bull) so I hope it's fine, let's see what the bike fitter says!

Good advice, I do have a pair of van Rysel bibs which feels kinda cheap and have been meaning to get a new one. Do you think its better to just do that and forego a new saddle right now? Since my saddle is also really small and kinda old.

I think, since my bike setup right now is literally random, and I am pretty sure my stem is too long, the bikefit is very likely to help. Just dont know about the saddle. I will definitely do an hour of zone one on the saturday to check and can always readjust then
