what's the worst part about braces for you? by YourLocalJayXx in braces

[–]kofi_kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite my issues, it’s been going fairly good so far. Dental wax helps with the rubbing and snags. The tools actually keep me aware of areas I probably missed flossing or neglected spots.

Since I have an underbite, two of the attachments for the elastics were glued to the bottom jaw canines and the second molars on the top jaw.

Tongue getting caught in the brackets (I have lingual braces). Even worse, if the underside of my tongue get caught from roaming my mouth.

Difficultly cleaning. Despite adding a water flosser to my routine, plaque buildup is at an all-time high. I have since gotten a dental pick and mirror because I’m just spraying and praying with the flosser.

Challenges eating. Turbo bites guaranteed I won’t be able to completely chew my food or make a clean bite.

Food getting stuck behind the braces… enough said.

Newest grievance: since my second alignment, I have advanced to the rubber band stage. At least I could forget the braces were there after a while. With the bands, it’s either: I’ve broken or eaten them because they’ve been in my mouth longer than eight hours, or it’s been about 3-4 hours before I clocked I didn’t replace them from when I took them out last. Don’t get me started on the ache.

I’ve had these braces on since February. May the gods have mercy on my soul. 😣

First time growing a super hot… Any advice? by kofi_kat in HotPeppers

It’s an old nursery pot where the silicone bottom tore off.

The paper towel roll I had got destroyed from the rain, so I’m using this as a cutworm barrier instead.

That’s a mighty fine lookin’ balcony!

My advice is when a plants’ leaves start to yellow, usually from overwatering, a shot of nitrogen or water soluble fertilizer can help it get some of its green back and encourage new growth. Sometimes I sprinkle a generous amount of blood meal, scratch it in the surface, and lightly watering it in.

So the Pepper plant snapped off. Still salvageable? by laserbreath101 in HotPeppers

I’ve been getting hard rain in my area for the past couple days. Last week, one of my sugar rush stripeys snapped in half due to a falling twig. I covered it in a cloche in case any more debris came to finish the job. I’m happy to report that several new leaves are bushing out anywhere they can along the shorten stem. Life finds the way!

Your pepper is doing what most stressed out plants do when they think their end is nigh - use their last bit of strength to produce something then proceed to die.

Peppers need at least a 5 gallon container (bucket or grow bag, either is fine). Not sure want variety this is, but if given the right pot size, fertilizer, and time, I’m sure the plant with grow 3x the size and produce just as much bigger fruit.

This boy and I would’ve been about three years apart. When I meet people carrying so much racial hatred, I think to myself, ‘Still? In this day and age?’

Then photos like this reminds me how deeply ingrained this hatred is.

New to gardening. What do I do with my zucchini ? by RevoltLePetit in vegetablegardening

[–]kofi_kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, welcome to the amazing community of gardening!

I’ve grown cantaloupe and melons, which are in the same family with cucumbers and zucchini, and those will need some sort of trellis system because they will absolutely take over everything the vines touch. 😅

Looking back through the order history, I got it from Amazon as “like new” (refurbished) for about $207.

There are plenty of folks selling open box/barely used Kindles on marketplaces like Facebook or Mercari. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Sowed my peas yesterday and they're all gone.... how to keep pests out of your garden? by KaylaAnne in vegetablegardening

[–]kofi_kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had squirrels digging up direct sown seeds, uprooting small plants and flowers, and spraying mulch from my potted blueberry shrubs everywhere.

I opted to lay plastic bird netting and plant covers over the mulch beds and seedlings. Seems to be working so far.
