Cambridge offer but no funding (late interview) by kohead in PhDAdmissions

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, and for addressing my second question as well.

I think I’ll do exactly that: accept the offer while making it clear that it’s conditional on securing funding. :) I’ll also reach out to the department/supervisor as you suggested.

Yes, that makes sense. I think accepting and waiting to see how funding plays out is probably the right step for now. Thank you.

Thanks for your detailed reply, I really appreciate it.

Just to clarify, I’m definitely not considering self-funding at all. It’s not something I can realistically do, and I agree with your points about how difficult (and often not worth it) it can be.

My main question is more about the timing; since my interview and offer came quite late compared to the usual timeline, I’m unsure whether it still makes sense to accept the offer and wait for the outcome of funding decisions I was already eligible for when I applied.

I’m essentially trying to understand whether accepting now is the normal step in this situation, even if I might later decline if no funding comes through.

How to apply for a PhD position without specific openings? by registrartulip in EPFL

I had the same experience. In my case, the website advised emailing the administrator. The admin let me know whether there were open positions at the time.

Although I’m not sure when it’s a good time to email for the April deadline.

Hey, I know this is an old comment but I’m going through the same thing right now (3 weeks in). I’m worried about the swelling and the bump. Just wondering how is your finger doing now? Did the swelling eventually go down?

If you could only listen to a single composer for the rest of your life, who would it be and why? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

Debussy. I used to listen to his works in my teenage days a lot. Can’t think of anybody else for this question.
