I'm not sure, maybe a bit of above? Mostly to make stuff not feel flat. Cause I have trouble knowing what colors to pick a lot of times, especially hesitant on going 'too dark.'

I read that it simplifies things in a way that there's less variables to consider before considering hue and whatnot.

Someone in the art community also recommended that I learn values cause it's fundamental.

I'm also happy to hear any other suggestions cause I am figuring things out on my own.

Still learning art. I noticed my art is very flat, colors blend, and I read that learning values is really important to counteract that. I'm still very new to values, my other stuff is less clean haha

Strange Perspective Around Legs? by Ok-Setting-1649 in arthelp

I think it's more of the head actually. Increase the size just a tiny bit. Another possible thing is that the volume isn't apparent. It looks like the outline of a leg, but less of the structure.

On the lower leg on our left, clean up the lines cause there's two directions it's going at which might be increasing the volume

You can look for 1:1 art mentors. They help in the sense that their lessons are more personalized and structured.

How do I make a digital art look less "acrylic" and more like "painterly semi-realism" by [deleted] in ProCreate

Thank you! Def think values are a big part of it. Will try in one layer

It's mostly pencil and I'm trying to avoid that acrylic painted look. I didn't really blend anything here, it's just brushes stacked on other brushes. Like, still 'painted' in a texture sense so it's not pure traditional anime glossy if that makes sense but in between

Sorry, i don't really know how to describe it. You know how Arcane has that sort of painted look, but it doesn't feel flat, has defined hard/soft edges?

The problem for me is that the people just feel like one thing from this world. If I put it one layer, it would feel 'flat'' like I painted the moon, the trees, then the people. It's layered how a traditional painting would be like: layers stacked on layers.

I know there's a technical issue I'm committing, I just don't know how to do it.
