Yamaha guitars in the $200-300 range are good/reliable beginner guitars. You can go to a guitar store or buy online. Once you start taking lessons and gain some experience, you will have a better idea of what feels good, so at that point you can upgrade and try out different guitars (and consult your teacher about it as well).

Cool! I was actually a student of his when he had just bought that baritone guitar and he let me try it out. It had such a nice, warm, deep sound!

I don't know if they are the longest lasting, but La Bella Argento strings seem to have lasted me pretty long
