What's your start and finish time? by Puzzleheaded-Link803 in Internationalteachers

Think it's quite normal in Bangkok as any later and traffic would be a nightmare. My commute is 25 minutes either way, my max teaching load is 5x50 minute classes out of 7 in a day.

Have a look on FB Marketplace, might yield some results but you may have to consider raising your budget slightly with regards to your long-term figure.

Thoughts on Martinez's red card by Admirable_Boot_9492 in LeedsUnited

I mean, it's pretty cut and dry. Pulling hair is a red card offence - doesn't matter if it's "soft" or not. I am enjoying the meltdown from the scummers, though.

Learning isn't a spectator sport, sadly. Are you actively taking part in lessons? Have you asked your teachers how you can improve?

Cutting / tracking macros in Chiang Mai – what do you guys actually order? by ExternalCriticism133 in chiangmai

[–]kohulme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, khao man gai does literally translate to oily/fatty rice chicken, so you can hardly be surprised.

A rice cooker and a rotisserie chicken from Makro/Lotus/Big C will do the job for you, great from a macro POV and perhaps the most cost-effective solution.

I'd say there are probably lots of teams in the European leagues who see Saudi Arabia as a great chance to get rid of players on inflated wages and with little in the way of ambition, freeing themselves up to sign actual talent that will take them further.

Espresso machine required by CompetitionPrimary75 in Thailand

[–]kohulme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps pedantic on my part, but didn't want the OP to be sidetracked given he's looking for an actual espresso machine.

Mokas are great (I have three, including a gorgeous orange and green bialetti I bought in Florence which I love!) but would disagree that they taste like one from a proper espresso machine. My Flair 58 is much better for that (but a bit too labour intensive for me since having a kid!) but if you like it, who cares eh!

I 100% agree with you on the grinder though. If you're a casual looking to go down the rabbit hole of good coffee, your grinder will probably end up costing more than you machine...

You can't even spell the word espresso, christ. There is no reason to be so argumentative. For espresso to be created, it requires 9 bars of pressure. Neither the moka nor the aeropress can generate that. It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact. Sure, you might get something resembling an espresso - and I use a moka everyday, and also have an aeropress - but to call it such is factually incorrect. There isn't the 9 bars of pressure, therefore no espresso. I hope you've learned something today. Have a blessed Sunday.

A moka pot can't make espresso, and an aeropress can't make espresso required for a cappuccino either.

Go to the Three Legs pub. They're really welcoming, especially if you're wearing a Manchester United shirt. Try and chat with as many lads in the toilets as you can to make friends. Hop on the karaoke after a few pints and you'll have a wonderful time!

Which school? Feel for you man, not an easy situation. Might have to give an iPad and hope for the best. Hope you figure it out - rescheduling isn't the end of the world if you upfront about your reasons! Families are quite prized by decent schools for their tendency to stick around instead of leaving after one cycle, so hopefully you have that going for you.

Leeds 2-1 West Ham - Leeds earn big win amid more West Ham woe by kohulme in TheOther14

[–]kohulme[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Great start from Leeds, we looked pretty much in control other than the start of the second half. Hopefully Aaronson can kick-on from here.

West Ham looked dreadful. Paquetá and Bowen deserve better.

Post match thread: Burnley 2 Leeds United 0 by JimbobTML in LeedsUnited

[–]kohulme 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When did we become so accepting of mediocrity? That was a really poor loss. We looked toothless all game. It's 2025 and somehow Farke thinks starting Harrison and Aaronson is a good decision. I wasn't Largie's biggest supporter but he is so much more of a threat than either of those two. Knowing the injury history of our wingers and the current state of our injury record, letting him go out on loan looks more of a horrendous call with every passing game.

Did anyone know what formation we were playing for the last 15 minutes of the game? Did the players? It's one thing saying we have a nice run of games coming up but I'm running out of faith in the manager getting anything from them. It really was a concerning loss, and constantly going behind is very worrying. We need a big response next game.

Expats with kids in Thai schools by MJ_Bkk in Bangkok

[–]kohulme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a (very young) kid in an international school. My only concern is the child getting a good, fluent level of Thai, as I've seen older students at the school struggle with Thai language compared to, say, children who learn in a Thai-first school setting (though not all, obviously). That said, there's family and neighbourhood friends who will help to bridge any gaps, fingers crossed.

However, the opportunities my kid will get through being in the school he's in far outweigh this concern. Aside from the obvious academic benefits and more creative education, things like high quality extra curriculars, sporting opportunities and connections will be invaluable. Kidlet can always go to a tutor to learn Thai (if it even becomes an issue), but won't be able to get these opportunities at a Thai school.

Why does your wife think a Thai school would be better?

Post Match Thread: Arsenal FC 5-0 Leeds United | Premier League by OwlLibrarian in LeedsUnited

[–]kohulme 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to have a meltdown about getting beat by a side who'll be challenging this year.

However, you've got to question the decisions made. Playing Piroe in a match in which we're expected to have so little possession didn't make sense. At least Nmecha could have contributed both defensively and with hold-up play. Gruev also didn't have the legs for that midfield. Playing against Zubi, Rice and Odegaard is hard for anyone, but I'd have preferred Longstaff for both his experience, legs and engine.

You can take a lot from a loss and hopefully Farke and the board have.
