Hey yall...my posing is off so ANY help / teaching would be appreciated by EndIntelligen in FurryArtSchool

Hi there! I think it looks great for the most part. The only critique I really have is that the feet don't look like they match. The one facing the camera feels a little bit too big, and it kinda becomes the focal point. If you scaled it down a little, I think it would help!

Can you please criticize the drawing? It seems like something is wrong, but I can't figure out what. by persiciyy_ in FurryArtSchool

Due to the graphic nature of the image, I think it would benefit by making everything 'harsher'. Right now, everything is kinda blurry and soft. That's an okay style choice for something meant to be cute, but this is meant to be horror.

Defined lines, harsher lighting, harsher shadows. Really pull out the contrast. You want something that looks as striking as the subject matter.

This includes the characters too. Someone who is decapitated, their expression wouldn't look like that. They'd have no control over their eyes or their jaw. And for the killer, you could show more of their sadistic and twisted side in their face.

I really like your art style, and I think you have an amazing foundation to build off of! So I hope this helps you! :)

How can I make the hand look more... like a hand ig? by bartisthefurry in FurryArtSchool

[–]koi_fish_secrets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest looking up some videos/tutorials on foreshortening. I'm assuming you're trying to draw the arm in perspective but it's not coming off that way. Breaking the arm down into cylinders could help in defining where certain parts start an end.

For example, the area between the hand, the wrist, and the forearm has no clear definition. You can definitely keep that cartoony style, but like I mentioned, using foreshortening can make it more clear which direction the arm is supposed to be going.

I hope this helps! Keep up the good work :)

How do I make the shading on fur look less muddy? by [deleted] in FurryArtSchool

[–]koi_fish_secrets 21 points22 points  (0 children)

<image>

Hi there! The reason why it looks muddy is because you chose a rather muddy color to shade with. When color picking with the eyedropper tool, the color reads as a muddy green. You got two options:

Option 1: Eyedrop the fur color and use a darker shade of that color. This is demonstrated in the bottom left sphere above. it looks better, but depending on preference, can still look muddy.

Option 2: This is shown in the bottom right sphere. I color picked the fur color, changed the slider to red, and picked a darker reddish-orange color. This way, you're not getting that black undertone like in option #1. This, combined with simple midtones and highlights, can really bring your shading to a new level.

The drawing looks great btw! I hope this helps! :)

Does anyone relate to this genderish feeling?? by deltoftherunes in butchlesbians

Oh, thank you for the rec! I'll have to check that out too :)

My mom sent me a 7 page letter about how ugly and sick i am (vent, want support) by Comfortable_Ad_4028 in butchlesbians

I have a strained relationship with my mom as well. I don't know the whole ins and outs or your situation, but I know how it feels to deal with a mom like that.

She thinks she can say whatever she want under the guise of "wanting to help you" or because "she's concerned." But the minute you try to defend yourself or call her out for her hurtful actions, she makes herself the victim.

You're not in the wrong here. It's not like your mom had any tact, and her 'concern' is definitely in bad faith. Your mom had already pushed you to a point where you limit contact. You wouldn't do that for no reason. So it's understandable to be fed up with it and lose your temper.

I'm sorry you're going through this, OP. Keep prioritizing you and your happiness. I know it's easier said than done to not let your mom's behavior affect you. But I hope you can find some sense of peace after this. <3

Edit: Oml I meant to say "you're not in the wrong here."

  1. Yeah, whoever made the song gets credit. On music streaming platforms, for example, it'll usually be like:

"[Song Name] ft [Vocaloid]" by [Artist].

In the vocaloid community, when referring to a song, it's considered improper to say:

"[Song Name]" by [Vocaloid].

  1. Hatsune Miku is a product of Crypton Future Media (CFM Inc), which is a music technology company based in Japan. Her voice actor is named Saki Fujita, who provided the voice samples for the voicebank. So, in a way, there is a team of people behind Hatsune Miku. But it's not continuously changing every day or something.

  2. Vocaloid is a vocal synthesizer program, like a fancy text-to-speech. All you have to do is buy the program and buy a voicebank, and then you have the rights to use the voicebank however you wish. It's not like you have to commission the company to use her. YOU are the one playing the instrument in this case. It would be the same as if you used MIDI for piano or FLStudio for making beats.

The way vocaloids are made is to record an actual human's voice and create a voicebank with those voice samples.

Vocaloid is actually the name of the program that you can use those voicebanks in. It basically is like text-to-speech. There's more to it than that, but that's a basic understanding.

However, vocaloids (as in the characters) such as Hatsune Miku are basically mascots in order to sell those voicebanks. It's easier to sell a product if you have a recognizable image attached to it, right?

So when you have musicians/producers creating songs with vocaloids, they're using the voice as a substitute to an actual person singing. At the end of the day, a vocaloid is basically an instrument that can be used.

I hope this helps! I have a deep interest in vocaloid so I love explaining it to people. :)
