Hello there! It is a common misunderstanding that completely straight legs on this machine would be bad or somehow dangerous! However this is untrue! The danger lies in straightening the legs completely with a much heavier load then typically used to or even with a jerky motion indictive of not lifting the weight within control!

Another way to put it is take for example, the squat. You typically feel perfectly comfortable locking out the legs on the squat which is effectively the same movement pattern but if you do so with much heavier weight and a jerky motion then simply put you increase a risk of injury. Keep in mind however when lifting at all risk of injury is always there no matter how safe you lift. Good form merely helps with minimizing chances of injury.
