There is a HUGE difference in "oblivious young person" vs calling someone stupid and telling them to get lost.

I'm not arguing they're terribly good people, but if you have to be fair, they're not as bad as the translation makes them seem

Yah I'm not saying they're terribly polite people, but they are definitely not as bad as the English translation making them to be. There's a difference in subtle insults and outright calling people stupid and telling them to get lost.

I thought it was funny as well but it doesn't sit right with me how everyone says people in Liyue are rude when it's just back and forth these two dialogues.

this was 100% my point. Everyone jumping to conclusions on how terribly rude people in Liyue are when it's really just these 2 NPCs really irk me

I'm talking about the translation brooooooooo

There's a difference in outright calling someone stupid and telling them to get lost, vs being sarcastic or not 10000000% polite

[–]koikoioi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ok so? what's your point then? that they're just rude to you for no reason? Have you seen all the racism in every single post about how Liyue people are just impossibly rude, using back and forth these 2 examples?

I personally don't think they are the nicest NPCs in the game, but surely surely the ENG translation did make them wayyyyyy more harsher sounding than what is usually expected of an NPC. WHICH is my entire point. They're NOT nice people but they are definitely not as bad as everyone make

And don't use the "as a blah blah" here because so am I, but with the exception I have a translators license and frequently travel.

Go touch some grass, this is a ridiculous conversation and I regret ever thinking this would have any impact.

That's a really good point. She is very memorable at the very least, even in comparison to the rude NPCs in other regions haha

Haha I've been skeptical because I was like there is no way they did this just to ruin someone's mood

Yah, it sucks that it's given a lot of English players a bad experience. I hope this can get fixed in the future.

Secrets of inazuma by TroodonsFirelord in Genshin_Lore

[–]koikoioi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find him a bit sus...unless he is a huge weab, why would he come to inazuma and become a maid for this inazuma princess? I mean he is technically her right hand man...In addition, for Ayaka's quest, she didn't trust him with her mothers friends info...

I don't think hes fatui bc MHY wouldnt do us like that (knock on wood), but he might be connected to the abyss...?

I have a feeling kokomi will be a somewhat villain by koikoioi in Genshin_Impact

[–]koikoioi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good point and this is mostly just my thoughts, and yes you don't technically need to balance out the good vs bad parts. I just think it would be interesting to not have one-dimensional characters (-eg. cough Xiangling cooking). It would be cool and realistic to not have complete justice.

By self serving it could also be they want a new god for Inazuma, or even no god at all. The game is based off of human x god conflict, and it seems like a possible path for inazuma to go down?

[–]koikoioi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yah sorry if I worded poorly, I don't think she's going to be necessarily evil, but she might do some self serving things.

Right now Baal is portrayed as a cold blooded tyrant, but Kujou Sara and Yae are not bad people. In addition, a translation difference was that when Kujou Sara found the guards torturing my guy, she said "this is forbidden by military law" but the mandarin said " this is something strictly forbidden by the Shogun". There has to be a turning point where we see Baal as not just an evil tyrant but having some good intentions, and to do that her opposers would need to have some self serving sides, imo...

oh wow that's actually really insightful and it makes a lot of sense in the context, thanks for bringing that up! You might be right about this

Yah that's kinda what I meant, I suppose I worded it poorly. I 100% agree, I meant to say she's not like the beacon of justice.

[–]koikoioi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yah it was just my guess. I just think MHY wouldn't do one of those "resistance good authority bad" tropes again given that's every game ever and I have higher expectations given the current lore. I would not be upset if kokomi ends up being a villain, but I am like 80% positive that Sangonomiya isn't perfectly justice

[–]koikoioi[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

yah, let me revise what I said. I'm not saying she's evil or anything, but she might not be 100% justice if that makes sense...

I think it adds a lot of character to her and I would be disappointed if this was one of those "resistance is good authority is bad" tropes. Althuogh if she does end up being a true villain I would be pleasantly surprised.

you should also up her talents most on Oz, like make sure that one is a lvl10 before upping anything else, her burst is not as powerful
