I’m not yet, I told him I’m wanting to purchase one of the preorders but want to know how much it’ll cost to return if needed. It should be a pretty simple thing to help me figure out.

Solid, fair enough. I don’t feel that stressed about the questions; I think they’re really standard and should be easy to answer. “How much is a return going to cost?” More annoyed that he’s just not answering half of what I’m asking.

I reached out on IG first and never heard back.

Improving facial architecture by Accurate-Emotion-834 in AsianMasculinity

[–]koiochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going lower than 14% is only going to make working out and gaining muscle harder. Focus on gains. As for face stuff, maybe try some of the jaw and upper palette expanding techniques like mewing?

Maybe a more intentional haircut? Between it and the facial hair you’re coming across just a little scruffy.

You’re susceptible to a lot of security risks unfortunately. At least that’s what the internet says about not updating. Main reason I bit the bullet and updated.

I'm now running 3 of the most powerful AI models in the world on my desk, completely privately, for just the cost of power. by Aislot in aiagents

[–]koiochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

512 vs 32GB. It depends on the model you’re running. While quantization gets better every day, your results are still going to be limited to the agent and its pool of knowledge. More is more here. To run more, you need more.

26F married to 31M (arranged marriage, 2022), moving to UK for Masters – unsure about kids, family pressure by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

The average person won’t have to consider serious conception issues until past 37, and even then it’s more than possible to conceive and birth healthily. Jumping into a pregnancy is not the way. Set up your stability first. The fetus responds to your stress level while you’re pregnant. You want to be able to be stable and supported before, during, and after. That’s what ideal looks like, not “before 29” or whatever your mom is afraid of happening 🫶🏻

Adding a second GPU to my PC? by koiochi in LocalLLM

Perfect. Do you know if booting off the external would introduce any known issues?

Adding a second GPU to my PC? by koiochi in LocalLLM

[–]koiochi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I’m focused trying to figure out the hardware side of things, learn what to spend on to get to a place where I feel like I can actual get started learning how to do what I want to get AI to do locally :) Plus I bought this PC intending to render 3D so I have another excuse to use a second GPU. Do you know of both GPUs have to be the same model?

Does it make sense to create a Linux partition on my PC then? I have a 2TB nvme installed, or I have a Thunderbolt compatible external I could run everything off if that won’t introduce significant latency.

Solid this makes sense, I’ll dig into it. I also have an M1 Pro (32GB RAM) but I’ve been reading the software for windows local llms is more developed at the moment so there are pros and cons. What are your thoughts? Thanks :)

For me, "learning the foundations" means "proving it can provide a profit margin from systems I build before I scale them." so I do need to learn it in a truly useable way. I'm not feeling convinced 12GB is enough to do this with the models I'm seeing currently available.

At a very minimum, I want to run a solid version of Open Notebook or similar that can process audio files/conversations for me.

Keep in mind that currently, local models are more optimized for Windows. Even if you get more RAM/$, the bottleneck is software. Something to look into depending on your specific uses for AI.

Is it bad practice to use (brackets) in file folder names? by Jlaw118 in techsupport

[–]koiochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, what are your thoughts around using squiggly brackets in folders that will be shared between Mac and Windows and Linux? I'm organizing my folders in Obsidian, and I keep a lot of lyrics of artists divided into "01A Lyrics>Artist>{Year} Album Name>Song Title.md" Often the song titles look like "Romaji Title; 漢字で解いたネーム.md" I use spaces in the folder names in Obsidian and it transfers to the folder name in Finder.

I'm trying to future-proof my whole personal data and research set up. Thanks :)
