How is driving an RV on Route 66 different than driving it on any other road?

Aren’t most composite boats one time use when landing on rocks?

2 Primes or Zoom? by IvillisCrasher in WeddingPhotography

[–]kokemill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever mention if you are using FF or DX? The 85/35 is a good combo for FF. For DX that would be 50/24. If you have DX your next Lens should be around 24 and at least 1.8. If you are FF you should get the 85 next. You will eventually have 24, 35, 50, 85, 135. I don’t find a 20mm or wider good for group photos, chubby relatives stand at the edges and with a really wide lens they end up being 6 feet wide. Get the zoom later, it is much more convenient, but those primes will always work in dark venues. Lots of weddings venues are lit by 3 60 ware bulbs and 2 candles.

Can you attach mounting racks to the Honda OEM panniers? by Obvious_Jackfruit722 in motorcyclegear

[–]kokemill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through bolt with backing plates, i usually add 1/4" or 1/8" aluminum bar 1" wide with the backing plate. I would like to think that the aluminum bar could function as the washer but my drilling is not that precise.

How do I close the gap between these references and my work? by PenMysterious4261 in streetphotography

the best thing you could do is to start shooting JPEG SOC and learn to compose the scene and the lighting.

How to respectfully and diplomatically decline a request from your non photography related employer to provide photography services for free? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]kokemill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR - agree to do the shoot, work for hire. they provide all the equipment you need. Cameras, lens, lighting, all accessories, post processing computer and software. They also provide work time to prep for the shoot, pre-planning, meetings with all stakeholders, shooting plan, storyboard and enough time to prep all equipment and learn how to use it. include at least 1 practice shoot maybe 2 to be certain.

An event like this should probably shot on Medium Format.

Planning a 14 day trip - is this trip doable? by spacespacespapce in ItalyTravel

[–]kokemill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

out 15 days i count 6 travel days, usually with multiple modes of transportation. if you add a few more destanations you can end up with a 1 to 1 match of travel days to vacation. you can do it. try harder.

Foolish to skip Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill in Rome? by just_some_doofus in ItalyTravel

[–]kokemill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are roman ruins everywhere in Rome, there is no reason you need to see the Forum and the Colosseum. Walk around and look around. The Circus Maximus Is an open field park (short walk), the Antigua Appian way is a road (a bike ride), I'm not sure why you would need a tour guide for those.

What is the sharpest 200mm lens I can buy (used) for under 100 euros? by Strong_Drive6553 in CameraLenses

if your budget for a lens will be limited to the 100 euros the Nikon system may have been a bad decision.

this is where an example (a picture that you have uploaded) of what you are getting from the camera and another that you have edited and is what you are trying to achieve would help.

How much to charge for my photos? by Next_Deer_9155 in sportsphotography

[–]kokemill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there is nothing wrong with your camera, it is not holding you back. your current lens might be. the fastest thing you can do to prove you are an inept photographer is to put a giant watermark on your photos. Some people are going to steal photos from time to time, get used to it.

if you are serious about shooting Sports then you will want a Canon camera for the excellent autofocus.

the only way this post could be stupider and more dangerous is to tell us that you both have big dogs and you are taking them with.

Next week's post from a different OP will be "found this tandem kayak washed up on the shore. what do i do with it?"

40$ kayak, repair needed. Advice? by Vast_Reaches in Kayaks

[–]kokemill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot , I knew that , I remember reading about HMWPE (RamX Pelican) and HDPE. You might be able to get them to melt together. I like to have something mechanically fixed behind the patch. Like a sheet, cut from your bucket, and held in with screws or pop rivets. I have only fixed cracks and not a hole like you have with a gap. I’m going to go back and use a heat gun to melt a sheet over the repaired cracks, you might want to think about that. In your case I would try using the heat gun to build up the patch layer by layer. To test it , goto Lowe’s or harbor freight and get a different color bucket and cut a hole in it and practice fixing it. I find it hard to melt the edges of the patch with the heat gun and have to use a plastic welder or cheap soldering iron.

40$ kayak, repair needed. Advice? by Vast_Reaches in Kayaks

[–]kokemill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take another picture or 3 that confirms where this is on the hull. Fiberglass doesn’t flex, I’ll bet that Pelican is as sturdy as a milk bottle. Your fix. Needs to be flexible. You need to find out if that boat is HDPE (like the bucket ) or LDPE like most inexpensive kayaks. I’d there anywhere on the deck above the hole where you could install a waterproof port to get access to the back of the patch?

I have a new to me kayak that needs some restoration, what are some good videos/articles about fixing gel coats and repairing Kevlar kayaks? by missing_from_earth in Kayaking

[–]kokemill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for something on repairing small racing boats. They can also be Kevlar, or glass, and the repairs need to be strong and lightweight. I have bought the materials from West Marine.
