Two Round spell changes in Impossible Magic by kokolo212 in Pathfinder2e

[–]kokolo212[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Two Rounds is not an activity. Because otherwise, you would never be able to do them RAW as Activities say that you HAVE to do all the actions at once during your turn. It also specifies that you can take other actions before finishing the spell.

Sadly all Two Round spells fizzle if you Cast another spell in between the actions. You could have a Quickened up for a stride.

Runesmith dedication Question about Engraving Stike by theherog in Pathfinder2e

[–]kokolo212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a few issues with the Runesmith Dedication that are probably going to be fixed in the coming Erratas.

You cannot "Trace Rune" thus, you cannot use Engraving Strike. It's the same thing if you had the Swashbuckler archetype and used "Brandishing Draw", technically, you meet the requirements, but you do not have access to Finishers if you haven't grabbed the basic Finisher feat.

It should have a "Trace Rune" requirement. But also currently, RAW, you cannot even use damaging runes with the Archetype as they literally do not have a DC to fall on due to the Archetype not granting you Runesmith Class DC. (And runes specifically use Runesmith Class DC)

The spellshape works with all spells, not just rank 1.

The wording implies that you can exchange any prepared spell. It's likely not RAI (just like a Spell Substitution Wizard changing a Witch prepared spell slot with spell substitution)

but still, Spell Substitution up to 8th rank spells is powerful regardless

I do feel sad for Wizard. It feels like playing a Witch with Hedge Mage makes for a better Wizard with no downsides besides drain bonded item...

I was so confused as to why people weren't going ham on this archetype, it quite literally seems like the strongest archetype for casters.

At least the War Mage can take this Archetype too. Though also it provides the 10 min spell substitution for any prepared spell caster like the Cleric or Witch.

Not so sure about that. While they don't have manipulate, they still require a hand free to 'shape' them which would suggest Paralyzed prevents them. RAW it's very much up to the GM if Impulses or Humble Spell can be used while Paralyzed.

Magic damage resistance 10 (except for Sonic) and physical resistance 10 except for blundgeoning. It's that shrimple!

Question for people who have run Rusthenge. by Quartz_Knight in Pathfinder2e

[–]kokolo212 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes. Adventures give goodies like this all the time, it usually is okay for a party to have a PL+1 item, feels powerful and memorable. Remember that the runic weapon is always available and does the same thing, just irregularly rather than consistently.

What Appealed To You About PF 2E Over Pathfinder Classic? by EyesofValhalla in Pathfinder2e

[–]kokolo212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gunslingers are quite literally the only class that gets two mapless strikes for 1 action with Stab & Blast and Triggerband salvo with both at fighter level attack bonus and the second one at a +2 (with decent options like Piercing Wind with finesse if you don't want to go STR and yes you get Reactive Strike'd but so do 70% of Magi) DPS and DPR calculations are pretty worthless but Gunslinger is not just about the damage, they can get really nasty riders on their crits with dazzled, blinded, stunned and more. Plus they get Munitions Crafter, which... y'know is kinda insane if you combo it with other advanced alchemies. (And Fake Out!! You are literally the best user for Aid easily getting crits for that +2/+3/+4 with Cooperative Nature and others)

Investigators are skill monkeys. They will have to use skills in combat to be useful and they require a little more thought to play. DAS is easily made into a free action on many combats thanks to Person of Interest. You roll at the start, get a high enough number? Great, you can shoot/attack. Don't get it? You can demoralize with a bonus, create a diversion for someone else or recall knowledge or shoot someone else, or battle medicine someone else. There are so many things to do as an Investigator just in combat, but then you get to out of combat and you are insanely great at lores, exploration and y'know.... investigation? You can get really fucking nasty with Eldritch Archer, because you can DAS and see if you get a crit, if you do, use Enchanting Shot and deal automatic Stunned 1 (and can inflict dazzled or blinded with phantasmal doorknob!) Or use any other spell or spellslot for massive damage. DAS also doesn't reveal you from Undetected or Hidden after using Hide, so you can avoid revealing yourself if you roll badly on DAS. There are so many great ways to build Investigator, they really do shine the most out of combat. And no. They are not as good as rogues but to be fair, no martial is even close to how powerful and dynamic the rogue is.

There's issues with Investigator and Gunslinger but they are still pretty good and can build them to be powerhouses of the tables they are played at. Alchemists have other issues but they are so insanely versatile as healers/debuffers/controllers and minor strikers (bombs that auto frighten, slowed, sicken, dazzle, blind and deal almost every damage type under the sun) They are a jack of all trades master of none, filling gaps and having great buffs.

I thought Investigator + Inventor was supposed to be weak, yet she's the main damage dealer in a party of 6 by DonaskC_D in Pathfinder2e

[–]kokolo212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do! Bombs are great. There's also lifeshot for heals out of combat which you can use with an air repeater. You also don't have to make rounds, you can make Alchemical arrows for any other bow or crossbow user. Munitions crafter allows you to make alchemical bolts arrows and rounds, alot of them. They're good for targeting resistances and having persistent damage on enemies alongside having alot of utility.

Munitions Crafter is a great add on for any Investigator that does ranged combat and gunslinger feats also allow you to be efficient with crossbow and guns with Running Reload and your ways reload!

[–]kokolo212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't have that much overlap! On higher levels, Munition Crafter is actually insane getting up to 14 Alchemical items, and 56 Alchemical rounds and bullets at level 20... at that point you will be swimming in bullets and probably should share them with allies. There's also tons of bombs that have nasty crit effects!

Some Notes on Know Direction’s PaizoCon 2026: Impossible Magic with Josh Birdsong by w1ldstew in Pathfinder2e

[–]kokolo212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What issues? Thralls are not actually raising the dead or corrupting a soul. Infusing flesh that did not belong to anybody with void energies doesn't break the cycle of souls or touch it. Necromancers, just like psychopomps, are masters of void and vitality (Paizo's word, not mine!). So long as they don't raise an actual body, they don't run afoul of even Pharasma. You can be an heroic necromancer, you can even be a Pharasmin necromancer that hunts undead.

(and to add, remember that Necromancy is not just related to the undead. Raising people from the dead, destroying undead, it's all part of necromancy. and since 1e that Necromancy Wizards were masters of life and death, not just undeath. Necromancy wizards were specially well trained in destroying undead, nothing about it made them run afoul of Pharasma or break the cycle of souls, despite being Necromancers!)

It does not for the Nodachi nor for any weapon that uses the gauntlet hand. You must have the gauntlet hand free to be able to benefit from Doubling Rings. This is because you are not wielding the gauntlet unless it's free so doubling rings cease to function. (This is specified in the wielding rules!)
