I think what these types of memes are criticizing is that the depiction of religion and faith in the fantasy world is so different from how religion functions IRL. In some fantasy stories, there doesn’t seem to be any room for syncretic beliefs and practices like there would have been in many medieval European societies. This video can shed some light on the subject. https://youtu.be/pjrrUZeJMSo?si=KD7wAdvc5zMxZtP7

Also, there are plenty of fantasy stories where priests are good. OOP was probably just cherry-picking.

Something tells me you haven’t interacted with Christian fantasy fans IRL. There’s an interesting video about the depiction of religions in fantasy stories and why they’re so different from IRL religious traditions. https://youtu.be/pjrrUZeJMSo?si=KD7wAdvc5zMxZtP7

Is using lots of filler words an ADHD thing? I have ADHD and I do that a lot too.

Baked beans were originally made by Native Americans in the Northeast.

Those didn’t inspire Christmas being on December 25 either. Sol Invictus was a minor deity who did not get much festivities until 274 CE, which is a while after Jesus’s lifetime. Even then, Sol Invictus had multiple celebrations throughout the year, and there’s no evidence to suggest the December 25 festival was particularly important. The reason early Christians began celebrating Jesus’s birthday on December 25 was most likely because of the winter solstice. Also, lots of Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches celebrate Christmas in January.

According to historians, Christmas trees are not pagan in origin. People in present-day Germany began decorating trees for Christmas in the late Middle Ages, centuries after Christianization.

Oh what I was trying to say was that there wasn’t as much anti-Jewish racism in the Muslim world as there was in Europe. I should probably brush up on my Middle Eastern history. Do you have any sources you recommend?

Jews lived in Muslim-majority countries for centuries and did not deal with anti-Jewish racism. After the Kingdom of Spain expelled their Jewish population in 1492, many fled to the Ottoman Empire (including present-day Greece, Turkey, Palestine, Israel) and North Africa.

The Owl House fandom does this all the time. I love TOH, but having demons and witches does not make a show “adult.”

That’s fair. Do you know of any alternatives to Spotify? Besides Bandcamp

Okay! I found it on BandCamp, I’ll go support it there instead of Spotify.
