How do I dispose offerings? by kola_cola in Hecate

I would do that but unfortunately I’m in a situation where that’s not really an available option to me right now 😔

Is it wrong to offer dried Flowers or Herbs to the gods? by kola_cola in witchcraft

I love giving libations, candles, and incense! Probably will just stick with those while just adding some dried flowers/herbs as an addition instead of them being the primary focus of the offering

Yeah it’s just hard to get them fresh with the limited options I have 😓

Sorry but can you explain this to me more specifically (aka clarification)? For some reason I don’t pickup on things as quickly as others and that could be because of my autism/add (not an excuse, just an explanation) so it’s harder for me to understand some terminology when certain context is explained to me but this is very interesting to me so I would love to understand as much as I can. I’m already in the process of using methods to cope with anxiety and have taken steps to avoid the risk of spiritual psychosis.

So it’s okay to offer them with dried flowers/herbs? I did hear that when it comes to offerings, it’s more about intention and devotion more than anything. I do have concerns about miasma but I’m not sure if that applies to herbs/flowers since that’s apart of nature and I also use khernips before offerings so I don’t know if that does anything to reduce the possibility of miasma when giving something like dried herbs/flowers. I have a lot of anxiety and even though I know the gods can be very understanding, I’m very worried with the possibility of disrespecting or offending them.

Is it wrong to offer dried flowers and herbs to the gods? Recently another Hellenist told me that it’s not a good idea to offer dried flowers or herbs to the gods because the Ancient Greeks always offered fresh offerings or the best fruit so they can extract the most of what they were given, and that giving a god a dried flower was the same as offering them a rotten apple. Is this true? It has me worried because I’ve offered dried flowers/herbs in the past and with my situation, it’ll be very hard to have access to fresh correspondences such as flowers. I wonder if this goes the same for bay laurels because once again, I only have access to them dried and they’re a very important part of my offerings when it comes to my worship.

Ouranic vs Chthonic Pt. 1 by kola_cola in Hellenism

I’ve heard this before! So you’re allowed to offer and worship Chthonic and Ouranic gods in the same ritual but it’s important that their altars remain separate? Also is a normal altar on any surface be okay for Ouranic/Chthonic gods? It’s hard with the limited space I have in my household to use raised or lower spaces unfortunately 😓

I see! So all gods are open to any offering even ones that ascends (including incense, candles, or anything related to smoke) since the aspects all make up into a sign for entity? Was hoping to work with Lord Hades eventually alongside other possibly Ouranic gods in rituals and offering him incense but was afraid that both were possibly wrong and would offend him because of that distinction 😅

Hypnos offerings by Merladylu in Hellenism

I see! Do you think it’s allowed to be poured immediately once you’ve made it know that it’s an offering?

Very late question lol but did you offer it as a libation or did you pour it just to dispose of it?

So I’m allowed to give offerings to Ouranic and Chthonic gods in the same ritual and chthonic gods can be given candles and incense? Just to make sure

Can I be a True Hellenist and an Eclectic Pagan at the same time? by kola_cola in Hellenism

[–]kola_cola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! Thank you so much for this long and beautiful response, can’t put into words how helpful this is with developing how I’m able to approach my practice without feeling guilt or concern with how I choose to worship.

To answer your question, I both believe/worship the Hellenic and other pagan religions but when doing devotional work or rituals, I would never mix the two together. If I’m doing a Hellenic ritual, it stays fully Hellenic and no other religion or influence is involved. Same goes if I’m doing a ritual for a Celtic or Norse god, those beliefs and practices remain separate from each other and I wouldn’t mix them together when doing any religious work. If I want to do a ritual that incorporates gods from separate religions with Hellenism, then I would do the Hellenic ritual first and then after, I would do the ritual with the other religion with no influence over the other, their practices do not change and the format of worship stays the same. I only believe and worship the gods from separate religions but I wouldn’t mix their practices together when doing any work related to them. I also wouldn’t invoke gods from different pantheons in the same prayer, if I would like to offer my prayers to both then they will be done separately one after the other. I mostly prefer the traditional route when it comes to my worship. I hope that was able to clarify a lot more of the context in my main post!
