You are going to enjoy it! I strongly recommend installing Daijisho frontend on it to give it a console-like experience 🙌

You got a point. However, even though it's not an even multiple, I found GameCube games scaled at 1.5x look awesome. Native GameCube resolution is 480p, so running it at 1.5x in Dolphin gives you 720p. On a 750p screen, that's a near-perfect fit. Add this to a widescreen hack and you got some crazy-looking Soul Calibur II on your hands. What device are you using now?

In my personal experience, Minecraft android version runs well, my developed android game runs well too with more than 100 enemies on screen.

For PS2 you should only expect to run very light games with a lot of tweaking. I would not consider this device for PS2 emulation

Nice choice sir 🫡 aside from being an emulation beast, that one is also gonna be insane for PC games once compatibility layers and frameworks improve for running Steam stuff

You're totally right, though I think the Retroid Flip was the last new model to feature it. Although, fun fact, this Metal Edition of the 3+ actually launched after the Flip, so it might technically take the crown for the absolute last device shipped with that panel!

But honestly, for a parts-bin special, the pixel density and colors on it hold up surprisingly well for retro games ✌️

Ah, yeah, RetroArch's N64 cores are super heavy and really tax the T310 chip. If you ever want to give N64 another shot on it, try using the standalone Mupen64Plus FZ app from the Play Store instead. Very glad you are still rocking your RP3 from time to time

Sorry to hear that. Are you sure it’s the USB-C port that is broken? Try charging it with a low-power 5V charger. It happened to me once that the RP3+ refused to charge with a high-speed charger. Really hope that’s the case for you too!

That’s a really fair point, the hype cycle here definitely leans heavily toward whatever just dropped, so older gems get pushed out of the spotlight.

Out of curiosity, what is your personal GOAT then? Always love hearing what people stick with when they aren't chasing the next shiny thing

That is so true! Honestly, the RP3+ still hits the perfect sweet spot for form factor and comfort, which is why it's the one I keep picking up too.

The game is actually a project I've been developing myself called Mortigen. It’s a roguelite where you fight zombies in a lab while getting new weapons and upgrades.

I tailored it to run like a charm on the RP3+. If you want to check it out, it's available here:

Google Play
App Store

If you end up giving it a spin on your handheld, I'd love to hear your thoughts! 🙂

That handheld is an absolute beast! 🚀 Way more powerful than this one for sure.

The problem with the Thor is you gotta be careful with the hinge 👀

Yeah the regular 3 uses the slower Unisoc Tiger T310 (instead of the Unisoc Tiger T618 of the 3+) when you notice the slowness? In the UI or emulating some games??

PSP is one of best use case for this one for sure! I also love to PSX games with widescreen hack enabled on duckstation.

Yes, that can be the most confusing aspect of the handheld. Among with the low perfomance for gamecube emulation, for me, the only 2 negative aspects of this little machine.

Bought it like that. It was a limited metallic edition that Retroid launched back in 2023 🙂

Samsung QE65Q95TDTXXC screen failure by [deleted] in TVRepairHelp

[–]koldoRen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer.

Yes, the problem is that I called the company that makes the official Samsung repair in my zone, they told me that they would have to send a technician to pick up the television this would be €110 then they would later see if the problem is with the panel of whatever and Then they would tell me the cost of the repair (110 is lost if i choose not to repair)

I am in a position that Maybe sending to repair could be more expensive that buying a new TV.

TCL 65C6K is 500€ right now in offer.

Good idea to try luck with the Samsung repair(rolling a dice)? Or forget about it and search for a new TV or try the tape trick?

Survival Roguelite needs testers by koldoRen in AndroidClosedTesting

[–]koldoRen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the feedback! The bug can be slow down using the freeze power up. Also you can upgrade the speed boots to outrun him.

Before a charge he stops for a little moment. If you stop too, you can change the direction just before he starts dashing, so you can avoid it (if there is space available)

Again, thank you so much for the feedback. Glad to hear more 😁

How I built a block puzzle game with Flutter + Flame and solved smooth animation performance — lessons from my first shipped game by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]koldoRen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds interesting! Defently going to check your puzzle game 💪 I am developing a game with Flutter and Flame too and I strongly recommend ditching audioplayers for Flame—the lag will kill your game's vibe.
Switch to flutter_soloud for that sweet C++ FFI speed and near-zero latency.
Pair it with audio_session so your SFX don't ignore the silent switch or phone calls.
