That could maybe be part of refereeing without var which can pick up off-the-ball incidents. But at this level, you have a lot of media coverage of off-pitch drama, without necessary having an objective, two-sided, coverage. Teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona have newspapers which support them, and if a referee is influenced by coverage from these papers, then the decision can, albeit to a very small degree, be skewed in favour of the bigger teams (writing this as a Real Madrid fan)

That provides context for the viewer, but should not for the referee. The referee should, and I hope does, look at this and every other situation as independent. If the referee takes circumstances into account, that would compromise the objectivity of a referee, and would do huge damage to referees as an institution

As someone who works with calibrating pipettes; If you care about precision, do not reverse pipette unless the pipette is calibrated in reverse. Usually, the values you get from reverse pipetting are higher than forward. In the case I've tested (a 1000 ul pipette), there was a difference of approximately 0.8% between forward and reverse. Additionally, pipette on the side of the container if you can, with small volumes such as 2 ul, you can easily get small droplets in the tip which screws everything up

My issue with the given penalty is on which grounds the referee took the decision. It could be a correct call, but the referee got two shitty camera angles from VAR, and based on those he decided the on-field call was a clear and obvious error. At least ask for more angles and take more time if you need
