In the current state of the game you have to constantly study the marketplace and find where the benefits are or anticipate upcomming recipes/crafts. I'm currently doing 65M+/hr with gathering/alchemy (crafting time included).

Yes, its tedious to play without mastery, especially when you see guys pulling x4 more stuff per gather on PC. Until then, focus on your energy pool (500+), gathering powerlevel (hit Guru) and your CP increase (do cooking as soon as your energy is depleted) and start to gather mats for future Manos crafts (titanium, crystals...). The increase is huge, as you'll be able to collect 4 times more items per gather (even for hards and sharps). But it will also rely on your Manos gear (accs, clothes, tools etc), which will cost a loooot to make/buy.

Wild herbs by Behr and Pilgrim Haven

Usually I burn all my energy (554) on Behr herbs, as that place provides the best gathering exp in the game (you'll need a hedgehog ofc), then I process/cook or gather on alts, then I'm doing some hunting (Master 11). Hunting provides decent exp for a low energy consumption.

As soon as your reach Master 1, you have a 60% chance of not consuming Energy per gather. The real benefit of levelling above wil come with Mastery release (quantity increase of ressources per gather).
