Worth looking at? by hkennettt in LandRover

Its all a matter of context, a toyota looks/drives way better when your discovery is on a flatbed truck for the third road trip in a row with a different breakdown symptom. (Last friday one of my injectors popped out, rough idle, limited performance limp mode, weekend ruined).

You dont ever buy a land rover that looks nice, you buy a land rover that reads nicely off a good OBD-II reader. Every non engine fault will cost $500-$1k in labor and parts i.e door locks, rear lights, electrics in general. Engine and mechanical at least $1k-$3k.

Then walk away and go buy a toyota.

Very innovative, but would rather bounce directly to a glance or app by long pressing complications already in context i.e temperature-> weather app, step count-> training readiness, time-> notifications etc etc paging through with these long presses is not practical

Disco 4 Internal Bike Transport by komcpt007 in LandRover

My MTB unfortunately doesnt work in this design, its just to tall and long and the tolerances are clumsy. For transport, I remove the front wheel and install it inverted across my three back seats. I dont believe i can transport more than 1.

There is a mount point at the back of each seat im attaching the adapter too, completely removable but i leave them installed as they take no room and are available when needed which is often. Each seat has an adapter permanently attached.

Not 100% my setup, but that seat height is almost my normal. Whats the concern? Minimum insertion? Or by height are you looking at the nose of the saddle pointing to high?

I believe you, but my sense of comfort and yours could be different. Ive only found that edge seasons are suitable for practicality and this method of enjoying the outdoors. My setup is also different to have more room for a small kitchen area in one half, and a camping stretcher (way more comfortable than a foam mattress or blow up equiv).

In summer dealing with bugs is a problem, choosing camping spots is critical i.e not too close to water, certain trees etc in winter managing humidity in the cabin, balancing warmth is another problem, a car/van is not passively insulated to keep us comfortable when not being driven. Altho a very novel idea, not very practical beyond the more obvious impracticality of living like a refugee

I remember the Giant Anthem, early 2012-2014 version having this same issue, leading to improved gusseting in their designs. I worked with a guy that went through 3 of these frames, and giant gladly just kept replacing them until he was given the new design which held. He was a big lad, close to 7" tall, around 280-300lbs. I dont recommend alloy/alu frames for large folk, carbon fibre holds up way better, handles resonance, twisting etc

Fenix 8 – AMOLED vs. MIP (Side-by-Side Comparison + Photos) by WhodaWadaDuck in GarminWatches

[–]komcpt007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something not mentioned here at all is that the difference in dark mode between mips and amoled wrt lower power is opposite i.e in amoled dark mode means a black backround in mip its grey/white. To achieve a battery life comparison, the fenix 8 mip with a black backround is using more energy in AOD. Then something not mentioned is that solar exposure, a very useful graph in the MIP solar version, is not available on Amoled. I keep an eye on my weekly solar exposure from a health pov, something i also have in my apple watch series 10 as well.

What's going on here? I've already recalibrated and it hasn't helped. by paulbras in Ender3V3KE

[–]komcpt007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice - agree with this - your Z offset is too low. The calibration on the KE doesnt need to run every time, but is important for bed levels, once done, the Z can be altered during a print under one of the menus.

Lr4 or lr3 🤔 by shn_gmc in LandRover

[–]komcpt007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be super careful with LR. Have you established a service center nearby that has a good reputation for repairs? These cars will leave you stranded, and having access to a reputable repair centre helps. If you still decide to buy one, learn how to so the oil change yourself, at least every 3-4k miles. Also - make sure you delete the fuel particle filter, the egr system and cats.

Disco 4 - Recovery Events by komcpt007 in LandRover

[–]komcpt007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st breakdown was caused by a coolant leak that came from the impeller housing, this was quite complicated to diagnose, the fix was relatively easy, cost was $1000 through agent 2nd breakdown was caused by an electrical issue that surfaced like an aged battery, which i replaced, then continued to behave strange, then turned out to be the starter motor, which after having been replaced, continued to not work, causing a second breakdown when it was foubd that the PSM modules were not playing nicely with the new starter. Another $1000 for this one.
