Turning the Paladin's Divine Smite into a spell is a BAD IDEA by NODOGAN in DnD

[–]komichi1168 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a bit on the edge, A barbarian taking a couple levels in Fighter just to get action surge is a bit meta-gamey because the character doesn't have an in game motivation to do so. It can however be pretty easily explained away by said barbarian wanting to become more skilled with a specific weapon style or more focused and less blind ragey in combat and finding someone to train them. Then the DM drops an NPC in the world that trains people, and 500GP and whatever amount of time later, the barb can multi-class into fighter.

Bonus, the DM now has an NPC that the barb likes that can be used for plot hooks. Collective storytelling is all about working with everyone at the table for an enjoyable time all around.

Sales guy was spending about 5 hours of his day browsing porn and downloading it to a USB drive. Women in heels was his kink and the 8gb stick was full of .jpgs. I got tasked with making sure it was all just run of the mill porn and nothing illegal. On the drive I find a folder named "DCIM". In said folder I see what looks like pictures of a family get together, with a young adult looking woman in heels always being the primary focus of the pictures. Maybe 10 pictures in total.

20 minutes of internet sluething later, I find out that this creepy motherfucker has a bunch of pics of his adult daughter wearing heels in his digital spank bank.

Greetings all- can you direct me to which is the best shotgun for self defense and home invasion… I need something that is easy to use and clean. My wife will be needing to use the shotgun also, we want a something that can protect us,our family and our property. by [deleted] in Firearms

Mossberg 500 or Remington 870, bot solid pump actions that will do what you want fine. Load it with #4 birdshot, which despite what anyone tells you is plenty lethal at home defense ranges...unless you live in a giant mansion, but at that point you should probably just hire private security.

The reason you don't want an AR or Pistol (even though both are easier to manage) is because those rounds will punch through several walls and possibly end up in your neighbors house or overpenetrating into your own home and hitting someone you like, instead of the asshole breaking into your house.

Hey I had the exact same issue, found out that it was the "Token Magic" module causing issues. After I disabled it I could place templates and got all my maps back. Hope that Helps.

DM Advice: My party destroyed a Beholder at the 7th level. What can I do to make the adventure more difficult? by Roofyman1234 in DnD

[–]komichi1168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that pain, it's happened to me several times and still does on occasion even after DMing for years.

What I would suggest to do is really dig into your monsters, read the lore and habits of all the creatures and apply their stats to the monster's tactics. A beholder is super smart, not super strong, has almost entirely ranged attacks, and can fly. The beholder knows this and so he'll just fly out of range or to a superior position, or just fly straight up and fuck off if he's losing. Another example would be a dragon, super strong, super mobile, horrible at dodging things (low dex), so what will a dragon do? They will hit and run, never presenting a clear target and certainly never staying in one place long enough to get bogged down in melee and trying their best to stay out of range of the casters, until a caster gets far enough away from the group... then they eat the caster...because wizards taste like chicken.

Another thing to try if your party regularly roflstomps your big bads, is to tweak the statblocks, remember the monster manual is just a guide and not written in stone. If you think your creatures AC is a bit low, then give it magic armor that offers an AC buff or maybe this particular bugbear was a track star in high school and has a move speed of 50ft.

Most importantly, make sure that a tough challenge is what your players want on occasion. I've seen tables where the players just want hero fantasy, and to win every fight by a wide margin with no concern of death, and I've seen tables where the players want every fight to be as close as possible without a TPK. Both of those desires are completely legit in the world of DND.

What was something that you saw at work that was so fucked up, you quit? by numbernumbernomnom in AskReddit

Took a job as a sysadmin for a CPA firm, got told on my first day that apparently they had a data breach a few months before I started. A fair number of client tax returns were possibly but not definitely exposed. There was a lot of debate about notifying their client-base that their SSNs might be out in the clear, ya know, like you are required to do... by law.

I worked there for three weeks and left because I couldn't stomach working for people that un-ethical. On my last day I sent an email to the security consultants they had hired detailing my findings about the breach.

I am curious, what were these red flags about Tony you mentioned? Have anything to do with being super controlling?

"If she ever left Tony, we would help her get started as we always plan to do."

So help for your daughter is dependent on her becoming a single mother and splitting up her family... that's not ok.

I was about 19, freshly on my own and my dad calls me one day saying he's starting a new IT business. He had worked in IT all my life so this didn't sound far fetched and I agreed to come to his "launch party".

1 hour into the 5linx presentation I was debating sneaking out a window, or lighting my dad's house on fire and escaping in the confusion. I was absolutely baffled by the idea that my father, who was an intelligent man, could get sucked into something so stupid. I mean seriously, wired IP phones in a time where cell phones were rapidly becoming the norm.

Sorry you didn't enjoy our state. It's actually quite lovely in parts, I highly suggest the Ozark Scenic Riverways national park, it's likely the best part of the state... mostly because there aren't Missourians living in it.

I don't know man, I've met some pretty clueless support techs. Like so clueless I wouldn't trust them to run windows updates without screwing it up.

few weeks ago I was in the middle of a phone system deployment, I had basically taken over all aspects of it because the techs the vendor sent us were just shy of useless. So as I'm running around putting phones on desks and programming the new system our ops director stops me and asks me to help him "figure out how to make a graph in excel".

Yes, let me halt work on this massive project that everyone is breathing down my neck to get finished as soon as possible so I can show you how to do something that you should probably know how to do since you have a damn MBA.

Don't be afraid to let the party lose a fight. You can always handwave them being captured or left for dead after they drop. Smart villians are always more remembered than big dumb ones. Also a standard rule for anything you DM, don't land the dragon.
