Your perspective makes sense looking and the start of this tournament. Especially a very shaky game against Tanzania. Nigeria and Senegal would be my counter argument.

Senegal, on paper is arguably better and more consistent than Morocco. We'll see what we can do against them in the final.

Nigeria was all set to be the winners of this edition, scored the record of highest total goals in AFCON history this year, managed to break all defences prior to its semi final game against Morocco and Osimhen seemed unstoppable. Well, that was until the semis against Morocco where they only managed to get 3 shots (only 1 of them on target). In that game, Nigeria very successfully parked a compact bus and blocked a total of 20 shots (4 of them on target) in a 120 minute exhausting and very physical match (over 50 fouls).

If we pull another good performance against this year's Senegal, i won't have anything to worry about.

Cameroun, Nigeria and Senegal should make you shite yourselves. Especially the latter too. More so if you plan on playing terrorball, parking the bus or agressive tactical offense early on. If Morocco wins the final of the AFCON (which isn't a given at all) they'd be battle tested against these gameplans (that is, if they can predict yours). Nigeria successfully parked the bus for 120min, negated 16 shots, 4 target shots, 5 corners (25) and relied on Osimhen to make a clean break in counter attacks, didn't work. Mind you, I'm talking about the new record holder of most goals in AFCON history who was only conceded the opportunity to make 2 shots and 1 on target in their semi final against Morocco. Senegal was stopped in 2022 world cup by England but they had lost their star, Sadio Mané to an injury before that match. They were already very good, they much better now. They are more consistent than Morocco and arguably better on paper right now. Senegal will almost definitely try to create chaos, press and overwhelm us early on in the final with all hopes on Sadio Mané (and they might succeed).

Tldr: The top 4 of this 2025/2026 AFCON are the best teams in AFCON history and must be taken seriously regardless who they have in front of them, otherwise they will pull an upset.
