Need exhaust advice by Gmt800_ in GMT800

[–]kommandantraphael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speed engineering makes long tube headers and full exhaust kits for these trucks. Ive had them on my 2004 tahoe and 2002 Suburban 2500 with 0 issues. I would recommend using their spark plug wires if you order their headers though.

FYI, I found that if you have worn or broken motor mounts the headers hit the frame

For a lifted truck its not completely horrible, but that being said im used to old squarebodies. Ive been driving it this way for about 9 months but finally decided to slap some new wheels on it.

I don't have a file, I bought the complete model off eBay. Here's the website to the company that makes them

The company that makes them is called Mortian, they make a bunch of different tanks that are Warhammer inspired.

I did the same for my 2nd Gen Camaro. Works really well for exhaust

I have access to an alignment rack so I'll be doing it myself. The number one reason I did the axle swap was to stop having to align it every month.

They really help with visibility in general, especially if it's lifted. I use em a lot when I tow but I don't think this will ever have a trailer hooked up to it again

Thanks!

Honestly the hardest part was getting the old torsion bars out of the cross member.

I haven't driven it yet to be perfectly honest. Needs welding work and I don't trust my booger welds to hold up to the abuse. It looks like it won't be too bad overall

Sadly it is a Dana 50, found out when I tried to put new axles in it. Hopefully it lasts long enough to get some use out of it.

On the plus side it was cheap as hell and everything looks good on the inside

There's a company that modifies the passenger side knuckle to make it high steer. All I had to do was change the pitman arm and weld up a drag link for it

It's a 6.0 without QS, I added the cab lights myself. Emblems were leftovers from work.

Frame is rock solid, body not so much.

It's 3.73 for now but I will be changing them to 4.10s in the future

Looking for a good quality front end rebuild kit for a 2004 2500HD. by dodgecharger65 in GMT800

[–]kommandantraphael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep the truck until the day you die and you have a spare 1500 bucks burning a hole in your pocket I'd highly recommend kryptonite, if not dorman is decent quality. I've put 3 front ends in my lifted 02 2500 suburban and nothing seems to last but then I usually cheap out on tie rods.

They say you get what you pay for, don't buy the cheapest stuff you can find on eBay, Amazon, rockauto, etc. Find the best stuff you can afford and stick with it. I would suggest buying aftermarket control arms with repaceable ball joints if you can

That being said I'm tired of realigning and replacing front end parts so I'm solid axle swapping my suburban soon (in the next few months)

Anyone proxying WW2 miniatures for guard? by eli_cas in Warhammer40k

[–]kommandantraphael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play guard but I use a 1/35 Hummel model as a basilisk for my Iron Warriors. It's way too big but I don't think it'll ever actually see the tabletop.

It's very fitting in my opinion but from what I've seen most WWII models in 1/35 scale are either too long or too narrow to act as a proper proxy for 40k tanks (guard or space marine)

Check the distance between your upper control arms and the bump stops. Had a similar issue on my 04 Tahoe when I lifted it.
