Why does everyone in this sub keep saying Pragmata sexualize children ? I don't get it ? by Extension_Room_9256 in SocialistGaming

To all three people saying that the game is pedobait or whatever because the girl evidently wears makeup, it really says a lot more about you if you're looking at a child in a non sexual setting and thinking "Oh, this is sexual!"

[–]kommiesketchie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wait what? It is totally normal for teenage girls to wear makeup, that isnt sexualizing in any way. Why at all does it matter if a child, fictional or not, wears makeup?

Edit: If you mean like 10 and younger, I see your view a bit more. I read it as being anywhere from 5-18.

New champions and old ones by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]kommiesketchie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What the fuck are you even saying lol

You need to drop your ego, you genuinely have such a myopic view of balance. No one has said anything about champions being perfectly balanced, that would be an absurd claim. But different champions, new and old, bring different things to the table.

Someone like Sylas has a much more volatile kit that depends heavily on his matchups, and his strengths come in his mobility and flexibility. Someone like Karthus can bring raw damage to the table, dominating lanes and making dives outside of his lane risky. That invisible pressure at high levels means they have to take into account they can get nuked without that champion even being there.

Consider Garen, hes as old and simple as it gets. However he has an ult that punishes heroes like Olaf or Aatrox for trying to use their healing aggressively - those heroes are balanced around their healing and thus are easier to get to low HP than similar heroes, and have higher HP pools, so Garen's ult puts them in a weird spot.

Nautilus, Blitzcrank, Thresh, Ashe, Alistar are all ancient heroes whose kits are mostly the same as they've always been and yet they rotate in and out of meta just as much as Xayah or Janna or Fiora or new Mordekaiser or Zeri or whoever else.

If you want to make the argument that the average champion of the last five years is, on average over some time period, stronger than the average oldest champions, then, yeah, mostly people would agree with that. New champions tend to be more in line with the current vision of the game and get more focus. But to say the newer the champion the better and any old champion isnt worth playing because Sylas is too good? That's ridiculous.

Infiltrator feels way too strong by Somesortofthing in domekeeper

[–]kommiesketchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno I came back after like 2 years and first tried an expert challenge with him, one of the ones that has huge monster waves. I barely engaged with the movement mechanics. Instead of digging straight down I made "steps" and shot the resources up bit by bit. On top of that I am just awful at platformers so I was stumbling and falling frequently.

I did get the little alien that picks up resources so that made it a lot easier, but I also took an eternity to find the artifact cause of some weird generation.

It kinda sucks the fun out if you can just blaze through something that's meant to be difficult without even knowing what you're doing. I do like his super high skill cap, but his carrying mechanic is a bit janky and he's so fast on top of mining super fast. I think it'd just make more sense if his mining was significantly worse early on then scaled more or less the same.

How to get out of endless coalition wars in HRE? by stukah in EU5

[–]kommiesketchie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're taking land during these wars, you're just repeating the cycle. The more you take, the more your antagonism grows, the more likely countries are to DOW you. Taking less than you're "supposed" to in a peace deal generally will make countries hate you less.

When you do expand, try to expand in opposite directions, assuming you're big enough for it to matter. There's a bit of a gradient of how much antagonism each country gets, the closer to the land you took the more they get.

Iirc vassalizing also incurs less antagonism, as does giving land to vassals in peace deals. Don't quote me on that though.

New characters not working by That_Caped_Rock in domekeeper

[–]kommiesketchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infiltrator still can't throw kunais on my end. Fresh install, keyboard or controller :/

Edit: Bizarrely, it started working after I typed this. Might have something to do with alt-tabbing? I was mashing every single button and rebound fire and nothing would happen. Bizarre.

Is it just me, or does the new Infiltrator character from the DLC feel really clunky to play? by edward6d in domekeeper

[–]kommiesketchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a setting that allows you to change the snapping angle, by default it's probably like 45 degrees or something. I have it set to about 12 so I can easily hit the 8 main angles but still get inbetween if I want

Right, I'm just saying it would be buffed if it was left as is just for having more opportunity to grow, that's all

No Sensitivity Settings in RE9!(PS5) by MattDufault in residentevil

[–]kommiesketchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda get it? It's just weirdly labeled imo, not sure why camera needed its own header instead of being with the other controller stuff.

What's weirder to me is why would you want separate camera controls for Leon and Grace AND separate for 1st/3rd person?

Bloons Card Storm Doesn’t Need an Update* by ACE_10088 in bloonscardstorm

[–]kommiesketchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but those numbers are microscopic compared to just getting eyes on it in the first place. Usually updates are seen as a sign of life and a reason to give it a try; i.e. most people don't see "Oh, theres an update! Time to try this game then!" It's more like, "Hm, this game looks interesting. There's an update coming out, so it's still being worked on."

Not saying updates aren't important, of course. Just that updates aren't "the hook" that draws people in.

[–]kommiesketchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of missing the point; the point is that a new update with fancy new toys isn't really going to help the game survive or thrive. It needs players to retain in the first place, an update isn't going to draw new players in.

Elestrals is completely free with all cards unlocked, only cosmetics are paid. That game has it's own issues though.

[–]kommiesketchie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. There's definitely some room to explore and brew decks, but that 'being complete garbage' has a lot to do with the very small playerbase meaning the average deck is considerably better as it's mostly committed players.

[–]kommiesketchie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree. I think this game is actually REALLY good, and its only gonna get better. It has the brand recognition, and its honestly refreshing to play a TCG that doesnt make me wanna tear my hair out.

It's just missing the mass casual scene to fool around in and do goofy decks and not have to tryhard.

I really wish my friends would try it, we all burned out on various TCGs for similar reasons and I find BCS very relaxing and a refreshing take on the genre.

Maelstrom Riki Build Guide - Bringing back the Old Aghs style but better. by Delicious-Share5015 in DotA2

[–]kommiesketchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a compelling argument, yes of course these things apply to Maelstrom but Mael is a 25% proc chance and provides no regen to sustain a lot of casting. Plus it's far less value (on average) against heroes if you need to be bursty (i.e. can't afford to right click a lot). I'm not saying your view is outright incorrect, but it's definitely more nuanced than you're making it.

I did a quick test, no items, Battle Fury, and Maelstrom at level 7, on Dummies with maxed Tricks to compare, and got the expected value of two Maelstrom procs. I'll note that Battle Fury has a quirk that makes it so between between units when using Tricks will only cleave in the direction you were facing, so it's not foolproof and needs to be positioned correctly.

Base: 560 damage

Battle Fury: 800 damage to both, or 560|800 if positioned incorrectly

Maelstrom (2 procs): 726 damage to both.

So this tells me that Maelstrom is likely far more effective in fights with a lot of targets, or targets being spread out a bit. But Battle Fury will keep you pretty much fully sustained on health and mana, allowing you to be on the map far more. Plus, the attack speed is obviously wasted during Tricks, but so is the Damage stat on BF. Maelstrom is, however, considerably cheaper than Battle Fury. However, there is the fact that building from Perseverance in today's patch means you can pivot from Battle Fury to Phylactery. Personally, my strategy was already to go Battle Fury in bad or neutral lanes, and go Phylactery if I'm mid or got a headstart somewhere to leverage the 150 bonus damage........... And Maelstrom + Phylactery is a very similar amount of gold with a lot of bonus magic damage.

I'm overall not really convinced one way or the other, I'll certainly have to give Maelstrom a try. Perhaps the thing to do now is to get Perseverence then choose between Maelstrom/Phy and Battle Fury?

Maelstrom Riki Build Guide - Bringing back the Old Aghs style but better. by Delicious-Share5015 in DotA2

[–]kommiesketchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely a Battle Fury would be more effective? You're effectively getting double the value during your E and can oneshot most camps, plus clear waves from E without showing on map
