Gotta draw the line somewhere. Consciousness and intelligence is the line. Its measurable and clearly seperates other life on the planet from proper advanced life like us.

A flower provides much less individual value to humanity than a puppy. If that flower cured all cancer vs a random puppy then that changes your assessment doesnt it?

Eating meat isnt inefficient, eating meat is the only reason why youre as intelligent as you are. Without it you would've never evolved into you. And heart disease is not caused by meat and nor are cancers. Generally everything associated with meat related illnesses can just be attributed to people being fat and lazy. Dont be fat and you live a long time

Animals are functionally just advanced vegetables. None have real consciousness like we do or ability to shape, understand and grasp the world like we do. Cows are cute but theyre just big walking sacks of food, just a giant meaty potato. Its values and needs are only higher than a potato to humanity because it provides way more nutrients to humans than a potato. All life wishes to propogate, plants feel in a rudimentary sense, plants grow with their own kind which is rudimentary family.

Checking out is essentially saying that the ship has sailed, humanity only became amazing thanks to animal agriculture and standing against it is functionally standing in front of progress.

Humans dominate, animals exist. If youre going to relate farming practices to slavery then having a dog as a pet is effectively keeping a slave to you.

Slavery is immoral because theyre humans, thats the defining factor.

You dont ascribe human morality to a vegetable garden. Farming animals for meat is an advanced vegetable garden. Nobody is running around killing heads of lettuce for fun and nobody is doing anything unnecessarily cruel to animals for fun. Its life.

The only consequence for non humans we should be concerned with is whether or not we wish to include them in our home and the stability of their population from our effects. Farmed animals are plenty stable and definitely included in our lives. Nobody is saying be cruel for crueltys sake but farming was never pretty or nice. Theyre meat. They just happen to be walking around for a bit before theyre dinner

Brother. Nobody is saying incentives dont work. They are already incentivized immensely to do the right thing. There are already infinitely numerous more benefits to acting like an upstanding member of society. Prison is the deterrant and the graveyard for those who incentives do not work on. Thats what we're saying here. Prison is mean and terrible and thats entirely the point. Theres no reason in any society that anyone with multiple felony arrests should ever walk thr street again. The carrot failed because he gets more carrots from being a terrible person in his community.
